The screen is too small for me to consider. The screen is half an inch smaller than the current models, which is huge for a portable display.

I would consider the PSP Go if it cost less than or the same as the PSP 3000, but as it is, we're getting a UMDless PSP with a smaller screen for a lot more money.
Apart from that, the Sony press conference was incredible!

bit of an update, there might be the opportunity to convert your games although how they'll stop you then selling the UMD and keeping the digital copy I don't know

I like the new design but I think it well be a pain in the a** to play with it. And it will mbe really overpriced (everybody know how 1$ converts to 1€). I'll stay on my trusty PSP 1000.

The converter probably also acts as a compactor so after you finish converting your games SMASH! goes the UMD.

If they actually do it. It seems kinda iffy to me.
The need to do this for me to EVER upgrade... and I certainly won't upgrade until the price drops.

So you'd just rip it to your PC or something? Because I've done that for every PSP game I've owned to lose the weight (as if the 0.5 grams would make my bones disintegrate) on my custom firmware. As well as downloading-- I'm not going any further.

Not sure how they would do it. Safest thing for them to do would be to have people send in their UMDs and get a code for the downloadable version.
I don't have any digital versions of my UMDs. Don't know what goes into ripping them. And I don't have the patience to keep upgrading my homebrew firmware everytime their's an update so I pretty much stopped doing that.

When pretty much any one can rip UMDs with CFW, I see no reason to send a UMD to Sony for a DRM-bloated version of the same game.

I was vaguely contemplating a hand-held recently too, and I've settled upon waiting for the Pandora to be finished, rather than buying anything currently available.
It's well worth taking a few minutes to read about:
