Anyone had a look at them yet? I have to say I was rather impressed. www.playstationcomics.com has the codes up for a free issue of the transformers comic so I thought I'd give it a look and the presentation is really quite impressive, kind of like a really really well made powerpoint show
Left & right on the dpad advance through cells rather than turning whole pages, it does auto zoom & pan as you move to the next cell and even included weird effects I wasn't expecting, a few cells were nothing but explosions and shooting and the animation when you move to that cell actually simulates camera shake
Also, accoring to the update in this kotaku story, someone from Sony confirmed that DC comics are a part of the lineup so Batman might just be available after all, hopefully its not just a screwup and he meant to say marvel. Even if not, I'll be tempted to keep getting the transformers comic, if nothing else its the REAL transformers and not the lame soulless modern shit where you couldn't care less when Jazz gets torn in half
Digital comics are an odd idea. I have had no trouble imagining sound effects and whatnot while reading a comic; a good artist will draw the scene in such a way that the nature of the action is unambiguous. Having said that, if it makes some extra money and/or boosts sales of the real comics that's a good thing.
The rule of thumb with Transformers is to steer clear of anything and everything that is live-action and/or made by the Japanese unless you are specifically wanting to see it for the "so bad it's good" factor. It's thanks to the Japanese that the franchise has ended up with unimaginable things like this, and the anime trilogy that preceded Animated was overall pretty dire too. Michael Bay just made things even worse.

It doesn't actually have sound effects or anything obvious (other that page turning ones), just transition animations.
Sure as hell not buying anything transformers that isn't the real one especially not lame japanese ones, just not a fan of the japanese storytelling style
I'd love to try this, but it tells me that this service is not available in my region until 2010. :(
Region locking on comic books? Yes please!!!
A book program plus the comics in comic book archive format seems like a preferable solution to me. It's already widely popular among the file sharing crowd. Of course, there's the deal with the format not being restricted in any way, which might put some publishers' panties in a knot.

I would check em out, but I can't see shit on my screen since that vacuum cleaner fucked up my PSP. I still use it for music though, since I memorized every thing's location.

What? Is this some kind of unholy relationship between a PSP and a vacuum cleaner?
Hmm I doubt me and my 5.00 M33-6 firmware would be allowed to run it.

Nope, the app was added as part of firmware 6.2 (or 6.1, one of them after 6 anyway)

No, I was taking the old vacuum cleaner from the ROTC building to the trash, we had a fire in the cafeteria, people rushed out and bumped into me, and the vacuum landed on my screen (The edge hit it from what I saw.).

If you can't get it fixed through the warranty, or something like that, you can find replacement parts for the screen on dealextreme.com, and there are plenty of tutorials around the Internet that can help you fix it.

...Didn't know you could fix it manually...THANKS! My best guess it is a shattered LCD crystal.
