My PS3 is currently an expensive Netflix player. I'll be investing in a new PC before I consider a PS4.

Actually, SCE is one of the most profitable parts of Sony (last I heard, anyway). Besides, every console maker sells their systems at a loss, hoping to make money back on the games.

How you can tell that Sony is in emergency cost cutting mode.

Phantasy Star 4 would be an awesome addition to GOG I think.
Yup consoles can be a big thing especially when Phantasy Star IV is considered one of the better Sega Genesis RPGs which was a badass system when it was new. I'm sure at least some PC gamers probably appreciate the sega genesis.
Higher revolution version of Phantasy Star IV would be sweet. I don't see how 3D is an advantage for it, usually 3d comes accross gimmicky. Unless the whole game would be remade with polygons instead of sprites if that is what you mean by 3D.
What does no backward incompatibility mean? I mean, not being able to play the earlier Phantasy Stars? Or does it mean only being able to play the new version with 3D graphics?
I would considered buying Phantasy Star IV though on GOG, I only played the first two which had too much level grinding but if Phantasy Star IV requires less then it would definitely be worth looking into.
EDIT: just read on wikipedia there was going to be a version of Phantsay Star IV that would have had 3D dungeons.. Also, read that in Japan there was a Windows port of Phantasy Star collection that included Phantasy Star IV. So, all they have to do is translate it and release it on GOG!

Probably not. While i do have a PS3 i just dont see a reason to buy whatever they decide to bring out next. Reason? As long as i keep up with my PC it will do everything PS4/720 can do, better, longer, and a whole lot more. While (older) game compatibility is sometimes a little hit and miss PC users always find a way to fix it.

Exactly my thoughts. Remember the fiasco that the PS3 release was. Sony simply can't have another one of that magnitute. Either they go the Wii way (releasing a console they actually earn money with on each sale instead of losing some) or it will take yet another couple of years. Heck, maybe they will even drop out of the race like Sega did.
