I guess I can live without the possibility for second-hand games, but unlike the game publishers may think, it does not mean I will start using more money on buying games than before. (referring to some articles where the publishers claim that a person would buy a new console game for a full price, if he had no option to buy a second-hand copy cheaper).
michaelleung: The original PS3 had an actual PS2 CPU inside the unit, and I guess they couldn't be bothered to do software emulation.
grviper: PSN received a bunch of PS2 Classics recently. Not the HD remakes, the real thing. They run via software emulation.
Yes, reselling the same games over and over again is much better business than offering free backwards compatibility, Sony knows that. :)
No GOG jokes please, GOG is not reselling games they have sold to you in the past already.
