dr.zli: US citizens earn much more than me, yet /i need to pay more than them? How fucked up is that?
Extremely. They don't have any excuses anymore, yet these practices continue - and seem to be getting worse.
The price is kind of justified because of shipping costs to us, but this is just ANOTHER example of Aussies (among others) paying a premium for gaming related items simply because we aren't American/ whatever other privileged country. Even when the AUD was ABOVE parity with the greenback, the prices stayed the same, hell, I think they even increased.
This is even more apparent with Digital games ($80 for Dishonored vanilla on Steam as opposed to a $68 Retail Special Edition, which is essentially a Steam key?)

I guess it's a good thing they're region-free

It might be cheaper just to buy online from the US and pay extra for shipping...
I feel sorry for Australian gamers. They are always ridiculously overcharged.

Magmarock: Probably a blessing in disguise.
Not sure how you reach that conclusion. It's likely to be a decent console if the PS3 is to go by; but without a price tag or release date, how can they expect anyone to prepare for its release? I'm expecting now that it'll get an ROW release this year and a JP one next. Which is pretty much the equivalent of giving their own market the middle finger. Of course, we should be used to that by now.

They get it no worse than we do.
One more reason why GOG is such a good site with its globle prices
Will they move onto consoles, I dout it but an interesting thought.
But that wont help with the console just the games.
it is not a lot....

600 bucks is NOT a lot of money here. It is quiet affordable to be honest for new, brand piece of hardware like those consoles. A week of pay.... if you are working in McDonald cleaning dishes.

so I can't justify complaints about the price.
avatar
Magmarock: That's how much they are going to be in Australia.

Such good price hey? I mean at those prices who wouldn't want to get a new console.

I'm... I'm sorry, I apologize. I can't even sarcastically pretend to support this, by any measure.
HAHAHAHAHAHA! HHAAHAHAH! hahahahahaah! hahahahaha. hhahaahah... Oh you poor sods.

Other markets have it a lot worse, such as mine, in which the Xbox One will be roughly U$1100, so forgive me if I'm not overly sympathetic to the people complaining about paying U$100 or U$150 more.

See thats what i was always told. Yes shit costs more over in Aus. but the people make a lot more money working a minimum wage job then then a US minimum wage job. Idk. Really isnt that expensive in the US. A few months saving or wait for tax returns.

I do. When they announced the prices for australia (checked ebgames that is) my first thought was: "that's pretty good. maybe i should get ps4 instead of ps3 then" (considering getting a console for few exclusives like heavy rain and rdr and that other quantic dream game)

They are really not bad prices for those systems here. I think ps3 and 360 were more expensive on release. there was talk about 800 bucks for those systems at some point...

How about getting a PC for that price that is more powerful and can do more things.

The way I read it, he was referring to MS, but the sentence isn't clear.

morciu: a ps4 here is twice what an average joe would make in a month.
That Sucks Big time It's Just wrong!

What does that have to do with it? The cost of the hardware is the same regardless of how much you earn, the hardware doesn't suddenly cost half as much to produce, just because you're making half of what somebody else is making in another country.

Yes, it's unfortunate that it's not equally affordable to all, but realistically these units area being sold at a loss in all likelihood already.

EDIT: And European prices are higher in large part due to the better warranty that the governments over there require. As well as expanded consumer rights in general.
