So I get home from the Batman: Arkham Asylum midnight launch, put the game in the PS3, and I get the little loading symbol in the corner of the screen, but no game shows up. I take it out and try again. Nothing. I put in Wolfenstein. Nothing. I put in a DVD, Hot Fuzz. NOTHING.
Do you know of any solution to this problem, or will I have to get it sent in for repairs? This is so frustrating, the DAY I get Batman!

Sielle: Apparently Best Buy has started selling them already in Florida.

michaelleung: Now that's unfair for the rest of us.

I'm sure if you were willing to pay shipping, BB would be willing to overnight one to HK. ;)
The Slim is tempting, but without the SACD support, I'm going to have to stick to my fatty.
What, SACDs were REAL?

I didn't know there existed.
I'd heard of them before but never saw one anywhere, perhaps because Sielle bought them all.

I didn't get it from Florida, I got it from the Best Buy in Texas.

Yea, they were real. Unfortunately there wasn't much released on the format, but the classical pieces are an auditory orgasm on a disc. Throw in an SACD of Pachelbel's Cannon in D and just melt away listening....
Try putting a textbook or heavy book like an encyclopedia on top of it and put in a disk you don't care all that much about.
If that makes it work (it's bringing the media closer to the laser), it's probably your laser and you need to get it repaired.
Or you can just leave a textbook on top of it.
you gotta send it in,
dusty bluray drive

Now who was it that said that physics class would never help me in the real world... right here we have a use for that HUGE text book. :) (Side note: Physics was one of my favorite classes back in school)

I had my (1000+ page) Lit Crit reader from college on top of my dreamcast for 2 years. Worked fine. The lasers on DC's were awful. I use it on my ps2 with CD based games too. It has trouble reading them.
Flipping a ps1 upside down worked for them (lasers on the older ones tended to go). The new consoles (XB360 and ps3) don't general have buffers between the laser and the disc, so you can't do that (flip it upside down), at least while a game's in there because you'll scratch it.

I'll keep those tips in mind for when I get a PS3, got the globe illustrated shakespere and a pair of huge CCNA textbooks that might just do the trick.

Not out on Audio DVD? I've actually seen those

It probably is out on Audio DVD but then again I'd have to find a player for that format as well. Not to mention rebuying all my discs.
