King's Bounty Series, Il-2 Sturmovik, Blitzkrieg Series, Silent Storm S2, and other wargames 70% off!

War is, undeniably, a part of human nature. Or maybe even nature in general. Everywhere you look wars are being waged. Even in your own backyard you'll find ant colonies fighting each other in endless struggle for resources and living space. According to many theories war is the single most progressive force in human history. Whether we like it or not, the root of most technological, and even social advancement lie in the race for military strength. There is no wonder war fascinates us and holds a prominent place in our imagination. And--of course--all of that interest we take in it, is being expressed via computer games. Today, we invite you to join us for a [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/1c_gsc_nival_1c_online_weekend_promo_310114]Wargaming Weekend with 18 excellent strategy and tactics titles offered whole 70% off. Let's take a brief look at some of the games, shall we?

King's Bounty: The Legend and its continuation, King's Bounty: Crossworlds GOTY play a lot like a Heroes of Might & Magic game. But simply calling them clones would be unjust. Saying that they're "genetically enhanced clone"--as one of our users called it--would be much more fair. The gameplay is full of unique ideas and the high-fantasy setting of the game has a very distinctive feel to it. With many, many hours of gameplay, innumerable tasks to complete, giant world to explore, and a great variety of enemies to defeat, those gems of a strategic-RPG truly deserves your attention. Yours for $2.99 and $5.99 respectively.

Blitzkrieg Anthology and Blitzkrieg 2 Anthology are both extensive, realistic, and multifaceted strategy gems. Don't miss the opportunity to get yourself hours upon hours of excellent and challenging strategic gameplay that will test your skills as a military commander. Both games excel in portraying the reality of the World War II campaigns down to detailed unit specifics and equipment. You'll get a chance to recreate the most important battles that served as turning points of mankind's most terrifying conflict up to date. Once you finish all the engaging single-player scenarios, you can challenge your friends online or use the provided map editor to create your very own campaigns. They can be a part of your collection for only $2.99 each!

That's only a small part of our Wargaming Weekend promo. Head out to the promo page to be fully briefed on our offer and start planning the tactics on your approach. The offer lasts until Tuesday, February 4, at 4:59AM GMT. Over and out!

JaqFrost: Since I usually like your recs, 1 or 2? =P

Licurg: The first one is better in my opinion, but others might disagree. They're wrong, of course .
yep the first one forced you to use your brain. you had to use artillery, anti air units and expecially infantry to avoid disasters. In BK 2 it's like:

"The infantry is unable to break through the enemy lines!? SEND IN MORE INFANTRY!!"

Niggles: Is Silent Storm as good as its made out to be by people?
Yeah, it's pretty damn good. If you loved Jagged Alliance 2, there's a very good chance you'll like this too. I still think JA2 is one of the best games of all time, but S2 is the only game in the genre that made a proper challenge for the crown.

Daliz: GOO-OOOG!
Where is King's Bounty: Warriors of the North?
IIRC, the developers admitted on their forums that no release without Steam was planned. But it was months ago, and maybe we could have some surprises this year (or the next ones...), I hope.

Niggles: How are the UFO games?
Didn't like the first one, but the later 2 are good if you can get used to the realtime pause combat and the ugly 3D. But the gameplay is very complex, deep and you have lots of options in the tactical combat.
Just in time for my birthday! Thanks GOG!

Anyway, I am hoping Warriors of the north would be released here. I want all my KB to be here.

Happy Birthday, mate!

Giltonnam: Well, WOTN just released an addon/DLC yesterday, and I think WOTN released before they started allowing/testing the waters with games that have addons/DLC released later.

Would be neat to see KB:WOTN come to GoG though (even though I already own them all on Steam xD).

siegfriedrox: Armored Princess is missing too (dlc of the legend)
Armored Princess isn't DLC of the legend, it's its own game. KB: Crossworlds is Armored Princess + the 2 addons/DLCs.
From this promo I'll get Cossacs only.
I already have the Kings Bounty Gold Edition UFO and Fantasy Wars on other site ;)

Or do you have anything to recommend?

Now that I have Blitzkrieg sorted, does anyone have thoughts, feelings or opinions on Fantasy Wars, Heroes of Annihilated Empires or Star Wolves?

I recommend Silent Storm, IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 (If you like flight sims), and Soldiers: Heroes of World War II.

I got Silent Storm and King’s Bounty: Crossworlds GOTY already, and I'm planning to get Soldiers: Heroes of World War II and Blitzkrieg Anthology. Any other games that are good? I'm more of a strategy gamer.

Marci87: "King's Bounty: Crossworlds GOTY includes King's Bounty: Armored Princess and two mini-campaigns: Champion of the Arena, where you'll fight bosses in a gladiatorial tournament and Defender of the Crown which features battles in unique tactical arenas with a random selection of enemies and allies."
Thanks i never noticed that *_*
What kind of "Wargaming Weekend" is this when you leave out the two Panzer General games?

btw, any chance to see tha Ancient Art of War series on GOG?
The Ancient Art of War
The Ancient Art of War at Sea
The Ancient Art of War in the Skies

Sweet, picked up some more games for the backlog:

Star Wolves
Heroes of Annihilated Empires
UFO: Afterlight
UFO: Aftershock
UFO: Aftermath

Already had the UFO trilogy from elsewhere, but better to have it on GOG.

I would like to second the recommendations of Etherlords and Perimeter. In my opinion the second Etherlords is better, in that it has more of a campaign/RPG flow, though the time crunches can be annoying when you want to explore. Perimeter is an different-enough RTS to be worth checking out, though beware it does contain a few bugs which may cause you to have to replay some missions if you do the goals in a different order.

You are getting Cossacs and not getting American Conquest?
You have it already? You know it right?

Cause if you dont know it, it´s like a somehow-better-gameplay Cossacs, set in a "conquest of the new world" enviroment, if you like Cossacs then American Conquest is a must-buy, for the price there

(sorry if you know all this, just curious you buy Cossacs and not Am.Conqu., which for me it was a better game, I enjoyed both but liked the second a bit more)
