King's Bounty Series, Il-2 Sturmovik, Blitzkrieg Series, Silent Storm S2, and other wargames 70% off!

War is, undeniably, a part of human nature. Or maybe even nature in general. Everywhere you look wars are being waged. Even in your own backyard you'll find ant colonies fighting each other in endless struggle for resources and living space. According to many theories war is the single most progressive force in human history. Whether we like it or not, the root of most technological, and even social advancement lie in the race for military strength. There is no wonder war fascinates us and holds a prominent place in our imagination. And--of course--all of that interest we take in it, is being expressed via computer games. Today, we invite you to join us for a [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/1c_gsc_nival_1c_online_weekend_promo_310114]Wargaming Weekend with 18 excellent strategy and tactics titles offered whole 70% off. Let's take a brief look at some of the games, shall we?

King's Bounty: The Legend and its continuation, King's Bounty: Crossworlds GOTY play a lot like a Heroes of Might & Magic game. But simply calling them clones would be unjust. Saying that they're "genetically enhanced clone"--as one of our users called it--would be much more fair. The gameplay is full of unique ideas and the high-fantasy setting of the game has a very distinctive feel to it. With many, many hours of gameplay, innumerable tasks to complete, giant world to explore, and a great variety of enemies to defeat, those gems of a strategic-RPG truly deserves your attention. Yours for $2.99 and $5.99 respectively.

Blitzkrieg Anthology and Blitzkrieg 2 Anthology are both extensive, realistic, and multifaceted strategy gems. Don't miss the opportunity to get yourself hours upon hours of excellent and challenging strategic gameplay that will test your skills as a military commander. Both games excel in portraying the reality of the World War II campaigns down to detailed unit specifics and equipment. You'll get a chance to recreate the most important battles that served as turning points of mankind's most terrifying conflict up to date. Once you finish all the engaging single-player scenarios, you can challenge your friends online or use the provided map editor to create your very own campaigns. They can be a part of your collection for only $2.99 each!

That's only a small part of our Wargaming Weekend promo. Head out to the promo page to be fully briefed on our offer and start planning the tactics on your approach. The offer lasts until Tuesday, February 4, at 4:59AM GMT. Over and out!

Wurzelkraft: Bought all my wishlisted games, the discount is just too good! American Conquest, Cossacks Anthology, Heroes of Annihilated Empires, Perimeter, Soldiers: Heroes of World War II and S2: Silent Storm. Poor wallet once again. ;)
Sounds familiar. It was like GOG saw my wishlist and used it as a sale template. Did the same as you, wiped out every last one with a heart next to it.

Hey, so did Creeper World just take inspiration\copy Perimeter?
That seemed a little fun game, what about P?

Not certain, since I have Creeper World but have not yet played it. But Perimeter is indeed fun, provided you stay clear of the glitches that screw up a mission. The opponent is pretty damn clever too, and infuriatingly persistent. You cannot be complacent against this AI, even when you have it backed into a corner. :)
Well, so much for self control. The ones without hearts started calling out to me, and I didn't want them to feel left out.

And again, your avatar fits the the thread :)
I would probably have great memories of Silent Storm if my memory didn't suck so much after so many nights of sleep deprivation. Had lots of fun with that game. I tentatively but enthusiastically recommend it.

I am going to pick up IL2 for sure, and wondering about Blitzkrieg and American Conquest. I've read that AC sometimes doesn't display correctly with modern HD displays. Anybody knows anything about that?
Not usually my cup of tea, but I'll give Fantasy Wars a shot. Well, that brings me up to 299 games now.
Come to think of it, 1C is one of the few publishers that doesn't give their games the console treatment, must be why I care more about their games than anyone elses I think.
Hi Folks,
can you recommend any of the current Wargames?
I am a pacifist, but I just feel like I could try one of these for a change. Last time I played RTS game was Warcraft 3. I would not mind something halfway historic, as I have had my share of fantasy worlds through RPG lately.

CarrionCrow: 11 more games for the pile? (Blitzkrieg 1-2, Etherlords 1-2, Heroes of Annihilated Empires, UFO 1-3, King's Bounty and Crossworlds, and Soldiers:Heroes of WW2) Absofrigginglutely.

Edit - Just had to say, I love this site so much. Every purchase straddles the increasingly blurry line between enjoyment and compulsion.
So what does that bring your total up to? I am going to sit this one out, but a couple of recent wholly unnecessary but compulsory purchases have brought mine up to 281 (never mind the wishlist - we won't talk about that one).

Well, after wiping out the new sale from top to bottom, my total is at 201, 188 of those since November.

Edit - And I think my wishlist is around 120 more items.

Excellent promo! So many things I'm interested in... some will have to wait for another sale.

Nice - you are fast catching up to me. I am positive I have already been overtaken in the wishlist count, though not by much. :-)

Hoping to add another 100 onto the stack during summer sales. The worrying part is that it's going past "Hey, that looks cool" straight towards "The collection is incomplete without EVERYTHING".

CarrionCrow: "The collection is incomplete without EVERYTHING".
That's why I bought Serious Sam The Second Encounter (game 298 in my huge and impractical collection). Got the first one for $.59 and, with the collection discount, the second was only $3.99. Not really a big SS fan, but...but...the collection!
