A strange topic heading, but I am again trying to gather some more support for Powermonger.

I am hoping to raise the awareness of Powermonger amongst you GOGites as I think it deserves far more recognition. I hope that GOG alrweady have this game in their pocket for realease at some stage as they have already released Populous

At its heart, it is an RTS. I have to admit that I am useless at RTS games but Powermonger is somehow different. There is no base building and manufacturing is done by the villages and towns on the maps

I must confess I was too lazy to read the articles for now at least but I did go cast my vote for this good old game which I do remember. I'm all for good old games, preferably for OS X too whenever possible!

So I hope it makes it here for you and those wishing for it and if it does I might just get hooked in too. It is the good old games that I come here for.

Oh, and I remember playing the Project Snowblind demo and it was fun. I don't know why now that I never did pick it up and play it then. Anyway, being in the US I'll pass on that and best wishes to some lucky person in Europe for some fun with that.

Strange, I thought I had voted for this eons ago.
I never got very far in the game, but I remember researching boats and having all the tiny men rowing across a lake.
Oh and of course the dude with one eye, I remember him.

Voted because there are a lot of game i like on here that not necessarily others want. I have no interest in RTS but it's a good game and people want it so I voted. Also I want project snowblind ;)

Nice. Giveaways to raise awareness of certain titles are good, as long as votes aren't forced to be able to enter. :) (I may try holding a giveaway to raise awareness for Humongous Entertainment classics, rather than just bump that thread again.)

Will probably vote after I watch some YT footage, but not in. Perhaps there are some compatibly issues with Powermonger, even though it should work fine in DOSBox? I don't know why we haven't seen it yet, but somebody else suggested we haven't seen Theme Park yet because of resolution problems.

I am wondering, though: we can assume the Amiga version is better than the DOS version; is it still fair to say the DOS version is worth bringing back to life? (I mean, obviously we got Populous 1 - 3D, and those have sold quite well, but I figured I'd ask.)

Project Snowblind is really good. I always pretend it is Deus Ex when I play and even have it in the same folder on my machine.
My only problem with the game is it give you all your skills, rather then allowing choice and personal development.

Never heard of Powermonger by the way, off to watch YouTube videos.

I had Powermonger a long time ago, from what I remember it's a confusing RTS that has the most hostile UI that I've seen in the genre. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone except scholars who need to do research on the subject.

I have Powermonger on an old laptop running Win 98. It plays just as well as the Amiga version. I cant see resolution as a problem.


The World War 1 expansion was released in the UK. It has an entry on the wishlist too. Hopefully the game will be released here eventually (as you say, if GOG has Populous, why not Powermonger)
