SO far, I was able to avoid buying any kind of game consoles. But the Wii was very tempting because of the controllers and the good Nintendo games for children. "Good luck", we have a FullHD TV and of course I want a console supporting FullHD. As the other consoles are not Nintendo (and therefore not very suitable for children) and are hot, loud and consume lots of power, I'm still waiting for the best Nintendo console. So, let's see what Nintendo is showing us next month.

So having a Wii instead of an XBOX360 or PS3 saves you a lot of money every month?

After seeing their stupid license to own anything you put or create on the 3DS I pretty much think Nintendo can go F themselves. They're as bad as Sony, what kind of screwed up world is it when MS is the friendliest big video game company (and yes, I rank Blizzard right down around Ubisoft territory)?

So I guess, no, I'm not one of the excited ones.
The best one already came out, it was the DS Lite.

Why isn't the Xbox 360 good for children?

Never mind for a minute the Kinect titles, there are plenty of family friendly games available on Xbox, especially when you take into account the games available directly through Xbox Live's marketplace. Plus, when the kids are away, adults can play. I can't say that about Nintendo.

Not to mention, Rockstar announced today, Grand Theft Auto: Sesame Street... That's gonna totally rock for kids.

The XBox 360 is phenomenal for children. With Gold Family I have complete control over what my daughter does on her 360, even from my own 360. There's tons of great co-op experiences on disc and on Live (she's been lobbying for Island of Wak-Fu next).

My only real gripe is the Netflix app doesn't allow her to have her own instant queue, so if I've watched a slasher film or zombie flick that has a scary cover she'll see it. Also, I get Balto 2 recommended to me because she watches Strawberry Shortcake on what amounts to my instant account. We can both watch a stream independently or together on the couch.

MS needs to improve a few things, imo, but over all, they have it almost nailed.

This is merely my perspective, but I can't think of a better console for playing with my kid. So I have no idea why outcast1 thinks the 360 is not suitable for children.

Hmm, wasnt that game a DS exclusive? It was one of those experiments to see how would a mature-themed game would do on the DS.

Personally, I think gimmick gameplay and Mario/Zelda saved the Wii from failure. Those 2 factors do not make a good console. So P-C can compete with PS3/360? About time! Then Sony and MS release their consoles a few years later and Nintendo is running off gimmicks, Mario/Zelda, and horrible ports.

So is the anti-Nintendo trolling that resulted from the Wii, which looked like it was running out of steam, going to get a boost from the release of Nintendo's next console?

What I would appreciate from Nintendo's next generation the most is how they handle 3rd party games. I expect that their new network will be well done but I want more than just classic remakes and crappy ports. They have shown innovation but they need more than that to get my dollar.

You can't protect the kids from everything, life is cruel and tough. Though I see your point.

I bet I would have hated the restrictions when I was a child and I hope that Nintendo don't fall for the overprotective pressure from parents again.

My kid swears like a sailor, I taught her context and setting instead of making it taboo. She knows the planet is going to melt in 500 million years when the sun scorches it lifeless, and she plays Red Dead Redemption. I don't so much want to hide bad things from her as be aware of what and how she's exposed to things. It's my job to provide context and the ability to speak about things she might find upsetting.

I don't find it totally offtopic as it has a lot to do with how Nintendo are running its business nowadays, in contrary to Microsoft. Nintendo have a lot of choices to make and making a couple of wrong ones could make a fiasco. I only got my wishes but I don't have the answer to what their best moves are.
