It has happened that a few times in the past, on the flow of speech, during conversations, some of my posts have been moderated. I admit that some of them were borderline rules-breaking, yet with each and every warning, i always apologized to any person claiming to have been offended, and always tried to be even more polite and civilized in public (and in private, too).

Today, i got a warning from a female moderator, for a post discussing women in the witcher game, specifically Yennefer and Triss. She accused me in public for offending real life women, while i was talking only about those women in the witcher universe! When i replied to her misconceptional, public post, another moderator deleted it, and instead of defending me, me whose post was misconcepted and my intentions baselessly and wrongly, publically twisted and illspoken, on top of it all, banned my account for 3 days.

I wanted to kindly ask; are all moderators let loose and unchecked? Are they allowed to twist the posts and the meanings of simple members' words at their whims? Are simple members deprived of their very basic priviledge to defend themselves in public, while they are being wronged in public, and even by a moderator on top of that? Who gave so much power to those people, so much as to both label someone wrongly and publically, AND punish said person for simply trying to defend himself?

I am not perfect by any means, and like all people, i do mistakes, but at least i have the *decency* to admit them, and set them right/apologize afterwards. I would kindly ask for an asnwer, if possible at all; thanks in advance.

P.S. Please do not ban me from GoG forums, too. Today, i have seen everything and nothing surprises me anymore.

If you're talking about the forums at thewitcher.com, then you're barking up the wrong tree. This site has nothing to do with that forum (except jointly being owned by CD Projekt).
I quit posting there long ago, as I also discovered that some of the moderators are colossal asshats. As jamyskis said though, the Witcher site/forums have nothing to do with these ones, so you're best off contacting the administrators of the Witcher forums if you want to complain (although I wouldn't bother).
GOG has spoiled us a bit, a lot of the other forums are run by dumbass power hungry mods. GOG is one of those forums where you'll find solace.

Amen to that, you 've got a point here! But they are a bit underpopulated...? That aside, it is true that i feel more comfortable here. By a great deal.

Must be that "The Witcher" is "mature". Someone who is not, in such an environment, acts like someone...well, who is NOT! Mod, admin, mortal member, or whatever else...

in my experience, that is how most forums are run. (personal aside) I think most people don't understand the difference between moderating and censoring as people bring up censoring quite a bit on this forum.

Moderators have the right to moderate any and all posts, and you usually agree to that when you sign up. I don't agree with most of the examples of power trips that moderators find themselves in... but your only option sadly, is to create your own forum with your own rules. As you have experienced... questioning moderation is the ultimate crime on most sites. Sometimes its ego, sometimes its the parent company forcing the hand, especially when IP is involved.

I agree its silly that some moderators let such a small amount of power get to their heads, but I also expect it from any forum.
Best forums in the world are the Sigma Team Forums (Zombie/Alien Shooter games)
The mod on there is a right little shit

AND THEY'RE DOWN! ROFLMFAO!!!

Greetings to our esteemed gamers!
Unfortunately, our official forum was attacked by furious aliens and won't be available until absolute annihilation of the intruders!

We apologize for the inconvenience!
Now to see if any of the posts by the little prick were archived...

Not that I can figure out... though by the look of it their forums have been down since late last year...

I agree. But imagine someone calling you a misogynist in public indirectly, because you talk poorly of a VIDEO GAME'S, FICTIONAL, female characters! And then ban you for simply trying to prove it was nothing more than a delusional misconception from their end, with the sole purpose to have your wrongly misplaced public label removed in defense! The phrase "Get offline, get real, get a life!", or "power brings abuse" couldn't be more timely, to the point!

This might be one of those cases where personal bias created the original issue, and then status caused the follow up ban because it was easier to call you at fault than the other moderator, which means there isn't any sense of command above them.

I was forum moderator for a little website for 2 years actually. I replaced one such bad moderator who never worked. I spent so much time that I pretty much caused every moderator to stop working all together, there was nothing for them to do. When I got a chance, I trained and helped two other people to be moderators, but that didn't last. Then administration went silent for a long time, it was just the moderators, and we couldn't keep the website going forever when it was falling apart and lousy with ads and virus alerts. It took them hacking the website and publicly ejecting myself and the other two to finally 'end' the website.

Short version is that staff is still human and subjected to bias and wrong decisions. If you can't get into honest discussion then you're in a problematic little place. I would suggest seeing if there's a website administrator and ask them to look into the issue and decide if you were in the wrong.
I've never had an issue on the Witcher forums personally, but the last time I posted on there was probably in 2010.

To form an educated opinion on whether you are a baddie or not, can you first link to the discussion where you were banned? Then I can see what exacrlt you've written, and not only take your word for it.

After all, if this was a court case, that was merely your version of what had happened.
Most people abuse their power when they have it. And when you give a crazy feminist, power over a forum, what happens is what happened to you. That is the answer to your question(I'm assuming you didn't offend all real life women in this world). That is why I love the fact that this forum doesn't have any moderators. Only the blue people who come out once in awhile to save the forum from certain threads that might result in bloodshed or piracy. I've only been banned from a forum twice. First time I was banned from a forum, I was banned for being nasty to someone who started being nasty to me first for no good reason. The person I was being nasty to, was friends with a moderator so... Yeah. Moderators = bullshit. Second time I was banned from a forum, I was banned because the owner of the forum didn't 100% understand what I saying and then assumed I'm a type of person he hates when I'm not. Yeah, he bans all those he hates.

It's the only forum where I got warnings (plenty of them), but I wouldn't say that moderators there are bad. I might agree that they are a little bit oversensitive during discussions about women, but overall they are pretty solid.
