It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

Hi there, because of the bad internet connection I've got here I decided to download The Witcher 2 via the downloader, so I won't have to care about possible interruptions due to freezes or a lost connection. Unfortunately I have some serious problems now, or at least I think so. My PC crashed once during the "merging" process after the download finished and now the "merging" doesn't ever seem to finish. When it reached almost 300 percent I told myself that this can't be right.

Running the setup file and its integrity check results in a message that all the big bin-files and the exe are broken. As far as I understand those are the files that are only created after the download was completely finished. So I deleted these files and restarted the download hoping that this would end in a correct merging process. But again it reached more than 200 percent after a couple of minutes.

So, any ideas or suggestions what I should do?

(Btw: Please don't complain about this being the wrong forum. It's probably an issue that could happen in case of any big GOG download.)

Hmmm I couldn't say what is wrong there. The only thing I would suggest is try using another download manager or browser that supports resume and download the 2gig pieces seperately.

Thanks. Guess I'll indeed try the regular download via browser although it sucks a lot that I'll have to download the whole 15GB again. It'll probably take another three to four days and I'm actually a bit in a hurry here. ;P Well, hope someone else might come up with an idea how to solve this issue.

Just noticed: The weirdest thing is that I haven't checked the support yet. I've really got used to look for help from communities before contacting official support. oO
With my internet connexion, it would take me adges to download the witcher 2 (At best, it downloads at a 70kb/s rate) so if you're telling me there's an potential error with downloading the game via the official downloader... Gonna cry x_X
Our current downloader struggles a bit with really spotty connections, but I do believe Fallen_Zen told me they have a fix for that with the new update that's pending.

Good to know. But I'm wondering how it comes that an official GOG guy even responds on a national holiday. Don't you guys get a single day off? :P

Today is 2nd. It is a normal day, not a national holiday.

Me? Not really. I generally read the forums 7 days a week. Someone has to run herd on this madhouse. :P
