Also, I think Defy the Future is a horrible tagline.

It is. Lets face it, unless a video game developer after making a successful title decide to make a film out of their game, we are never ever going to see well done adaptations.

Give me a crack at a game movie and I'll make it good. I seem to know 2 things pretty damned well, games & screenwriting so it seems like a good mix.
Whats really needed is a writer in control of the project, in a hypothetical universe, lets say the script for the tomb raider movie was really good, no matter how good the script was, the producer okays the casting of angelina jolie as lara and the whole project goes from possible 'indiana jones of the new millennium' and turns instead into "sure she can't act but we've been telling people she's popular and hot enough that they actually believe it and look, she's got tits. ahh who cares, we have the name so we've got the nerds in as well as the normal people, shit its only a game movie anyway"

Romulus: My thoughts on the film: I expect it to be another big-budget-effects-fest, which will be lacking the awesome music by Stuart Chatwood. I'm sure Yahtzee will pronounce on it with furious glee.

YES. It would need him..even the old soundtrack might be best, but either way you need 'Time Only Knows' in there at least twice (once as exit music).
Look forward to the Yahtzee review. :)

chautemoc: Yeah, but Mike Newell (Donnie Brasco) is directing, and this other fella Carlo Bernard who assisted on Heat, The Insider, and The Last of the Mohicans is writing the screenplay..wrote The Great Raid and The Uninvited but I don't know anything about them.

The Uninvited sucked major dick.

Salma Hayak is freaking hot! That, and she is a decent actor. BEsides, I hate game made into movie stuff, but this one looks good.

Can't believe I'm the first person to point it out, but the Sands of Time costume would look absurd in real life. Like, completely ridiculous. The game's visuals were not based in reality. Warrior Within's visuals largely were, so the costume transfers naturally.
Not sure what the complaining is about, this costume is easily the most natural game-to-screen transition I've seen. I can't think of a better one.
and yes Jake is so hot
