I'm trying to preorder The Withcer 3 but it doesn't really work as expected. Wherever the price is displayed it shows a square and 639.19 (with square 159.81 savings as I have both Witcher 1 and 2 on GOG). Now I guess that square is the symbol of the currency and based the fact that I got redirected to a PayPal page with cyrillic characters I guess that should be Russian Roubles (RUB). That's nice, but I don't think it's a good idea to pay the money if I'm not 100% sure how much and in what currency I'm paying :-)

Some facts:

- I'm from Hungary, staying in Hungary at the moment, using the internet from a Hungarian provides
- I'm using the latest version of Chrome (Version 35.0.1916.114 m)
- I don't speak Russian at all - I'd strongly prefer to read everything in English
- I'd prefer to pay in USD, Euro or Hungarian Forint, even if paying in Roubles is cheaper

Question: is it possible to somehow change/set my preferred currency?

Request: please make the currency display in Chrome properly!

I suggest you write to Support about that matter, but they will probably not respond till Monday.
As for changing the currency, that's not possible at the moment.

You might also want to post in the blue dotted Witcher 3 thread. There's a blue (GOG dude) patrolling in there.

Okay, thanks for the reply, I'll open a ticket at the support page then. It's not a problem that they won't respond till next Monday - after all the game won't be available till next year :-D

I understand your issues, but what's the logic behind that? Considering you're paying online, your payment should be automatically converted to the value of your country's currency. This means that if it truly is cheaper in Roubles, though I doubt that because then more people would convert to that and money would be lost, you have no reason not to pay in that currency since when paying online, the value of the game you're buying is calculated for your currency.
This being said i think it's just a bug. Having a certain region with smaller prices seems like a bad marketing tactic, especially if the users find out.

639 RUB is approximately 18.5$, so there is actually a HUGE difference, compared to the price paid by most of Europe (~58$ with discounts for owning both Witchers). As far as we know so far, the base price of the Russian region is the lowest, at around 20$, with Australia and parts of Europe the highest, with a base price of ca. 80$.

Ohh, wow. Now that is something I haven't noticed. And based on it, I'm now less sure that the actual currency is roubles - I don't think this game can be bought for less than 20$... I'll wait for support's actualy response.

It's not a mistake, many in the main Witcher 3 thread have verified that the base price for the Russian region is around 20$. This level of regional pricing difference is very common on Steam, for instance.

It can. 639 rubles amount to about $18.5 give or take any kind of currency exchange fee.

Their IP locator tool is bugged. Yesterday, it placed my location in America, even though other sites like Steam and GamersGate recognized my location normally.

If you're using Paypal to pay for the game, I know for certain Paypal translates the value of the Rubles into whatever you want. The point is, there are convenient solutions to such a problem and you can easily win by using them.
But if you want to pay the full Euro price, then why not? GOG gets more money, more money to invest in games, so as long as it is for the better of GOG, I'm all for it.
