The special pre-order discount lasts until December 4, the expected day of the game's release. The 40% off special discount for beta-test participants remains valid one month after the game's release.

**$8.99 is the discounted price for this title in the US. Other prices will apply in different countries. If you end up paying more than than the US price, we will reimburse the difference from our own pocket, giving it back to you in store credit (this is what we call the "Fair Price Package").
I have the beta but I am only getting a 10% discount on the store page. Is this a bug or is it caused by me playing only 3-4 hours of the beta version?

Please send us a Support ticket. You should be seeing the 40% discount since you were, as you say, a participant in the beta :)

Add the game to your cart, then you'll get the proper discount.

JudasIscariot: Well, I do know there will be a physical version of the board game itself coming out but as to whether that has any effect on the price of the digital version, I have no idea.
avatar
MIK0: Can you gather some informations and be more specific please?
This thing is another huge setback for GOG credibility and recently you had more than you should.
I don't have and won't have that kind of information as it's way beyond me BUT you can ask this very question on the official board and thread for the game here:

Sorry but that's the best I can do :/

opeter1: Yeah, but each EU/European Country has it's VAT (in german: Mehrwertsteuer) ... you in Germany have 19 (or 19,5%), we have 22%, Hungary has 27% ... whenever it is buyed physical/digital, you also have to pay your local VAT.
avatar
fiiij: But I have in the EU only to pay the VAT of the country I am buying in. So lets say I buy in UK, then I have to pay their 20%. I have not to pay additionally our VAT of 19%.
You misunderstood him. By EU regulation you don't pay 20% VAT in UK when you order there but 19% VAT since you live in Germany (by regulation you have to pay VAT to the country where you live and not the country where you buy a product if it is an eu member state) and that VAT goes to the german state in your particular case and not to UK but this will be valid if im not mistaken from 1. january 2015. For example I bought pc parts for my pc in a german online store and I had to pay 22% VAT instead of german 19% since they already implemented the new EU VAT system before time.

To make it clear you pay the VAT always to the country where you live if you buy products or services in eu member states (by new regulation).

Regional price discussion aside, is it any good? And is it only multi-player or is it also decently fun in single player mode? I don't know, I've been vaguely interested in this ever since it was first announced, but I'm not sure whether or not it's worth the purchase... I guess I'll at least wait until release, it's not like the 10% discount makes much of a difference.

blotunga: I won't buy until simultaneous turns are implemented. It's just too boring to wait for other players to finish their turn.
I guess you won't buy it at all. This isn't a party game, simultaneous turns just don't fit the mechanics of tabletop original.

I don't see why it must copy exactly the tabletop. And each characters actions are unrelated to the other characters from what I saw. So technically there is no reason why the turns shouldn't be simultaneous.
Hmm, I thought that by pre-ordering Witcher 3 I will get code for beta, which - once testing is finished - become full game automatically, without additional purchase… :( To hell with all that marketing speach!
Not that I don't have that few dollars, but don't like it by principle… Please GOG speak clear next time.. thanks!

Actually, one player's actions may have effects on the board - placing new monsters and encounters and possibly more.

It doesn't matter that you don't see the reason. Most important that simultaneous turns collide with the mechanics of original. Also there's an interaction between players e.g. co-op quests. It was one of the last features added to the beta.

By the way, will this game be available on Android? If so, will a purchase here make the Android version available to me?
Meh, another unfairly priced cdp game...
Well, this comes as a surprise on multiple levels to me.

1) The price - was expecting something along the lines of 15 EUR and a 4-pack for 45 EUR. Seriously, why is this not a thing? 4 heroes, 4 friends... With the current price of course:)
2) The beta discount - again, was expecting a way lower 20% or 25% cut in the final price for beta testers. Nice to be rewarded like that.*
3) The regional pricing - that's the negative one, some explanation would be nice, guys. Didn't you learn anything from the previous shitstorm?

* Although it seems that not everything reported is fixed despite what devs claim - one of the screenshots promoting the game has a typo reported 3 version ago and supposedly fixed. Can't post links (yeah, I don't participate here much...), but Going Rogue quest card and issue 0000780 would like to have a word:)

I was able to access only multi-player during beta, so I can't comment on single-player possibility. From what I have seen, they tried to create a rich world - each quest has multiple optional branches, there is a lot of text fluff to add just about right amount of immersion. The background music was simple and very pleasant to listen to.
What I didn't like was:

a) the inability to do anything during player's turn. The screen basically got grey and I had to just stare at the screen. I couldn't read any details of my main quest, FAQ or anything.
I can imagine it can be fun to play for both very skilled players who are already familiar with rules and walls of text everywhere and thus gameplay gets fast paced but I can also imagine it to be extremely painful if the game pick an impatient player for you (e.g. leading to cancelling the game after 20 minutes of invested time) or a beginner who likes to read everything slowly.

b) gameplay was strongly luck-based. One time my character was basically bludgeoned to death gradually by each turn while my friend's character was breezing through similarly or more dangerous locations.
You can do well and suddenly your cube starts rolling bad luck and you can't do much about it; or you can choose badly but thanks to the random easy encounters you can get a significant boost and get to the end as a winner.

Note! This might be already changed in the newer iteration. Please don't consider it to be opinion about Gold game.
