The title that succeeded in turning the 1994 holiday season into a trigger-happy fragtastic mayhem has been given a new lease on life and is on its way to our computer screens. Sporting top-notch modern graphics and animation it will also retain its original gory-but-funny spirit, skillfully catering both to our nostalgia and modern gaming needs. Yes, Rise of the Triad is coming to GOG.com, and pre-ordering today comes with special benefits!

Rise of the Triad has everything that made its predecessor so memorable, from zany weapons, through gory visuals, down to the frantic multi-player mayhem. Talking about multi-player, our DRM-free version will be mulitplayer-compatible with all other versions, so you'll get to go fragging your friends whatever their preferred game delivery system might be. While the game looks and feels very 2013, the developers went out of their way to recreate that special RotT feel. Just look!

Magmarock: I pre ordered Rise of the Triads as soon as I could but I didn't get any of the black stone games. I have also taken this up with support.

Barry_Woodward: The codes for the free games should be in the email GOG sent you after you completed the transaction.
Face palms, lol it works now :P

amcdermo: Do you see this game as being niche or mainstream. How have you chosen to balance the demands of both retro and modern gamers?
The only "demands" of modern FPS gamers would be sticky cover, regenerating health, and super-easy default difficulty, which in a RoTT style game would just ruin everything.

Fuck em, they go play cawadoody on their Xbawks
Holy Cow.
Just out of the blue - I'm so going to preorder this.

Thanks to Interceptor entertainment for bringing this to gog.
Now, doubletime it and finish DukeNukem' 3D reloaded ;)
DRM-free multiplayer in 2013? WHAT'S GOING ON?!

I hope there is at least a CDKey / GUID system, otherwise it's gonna be a hacker fest with pirated games.

So, what is Extreme Rise of the Triad, anyway? I keep seeing it pop up with the Apogee Throwback bundle on other sites.

Is a mission pack, available as freeware from 3D Realms site: http://www.3drealms.com/stuff/erottrtl.exe
OK, I didn't see it on GOG and thought I should check it out. Another question, what happens if I pre-order and I already own some of the games that I get when I pre-order?

The pre-order games come as seperate keys in an e-mail. You can redeem for the games you don't have and gift the others to someone.
Sweet, that's a definite preorder.

The more I see of the new RotT the more excited I get, it's looking like it takes everything that made the old RotT awesome and updating it. Kinda the opposite of the new Shadow Warrior game, which is getting rid of all the fun from the original just to be politically correct.

Hi Frederik, I didn't even know this is a Danish project, how cool! : D

Det ser sjovt ud selvom jeg ikke har noget forhold til det oprindelige spil. Har allerede forudbestilt det sammen med det gode tilbud ; )

Translation: This is fun looking even though he hasn't played the original. He preordered immediately together with the good offer.
google translate does wonders
The more I see of this, the more I want it. Been playing a bit of RotT again after the pre-order news hit the web. Still goretastic fun, even if some of that old level design can be a bit bland - that aspect hasn't aged all that well - but dog/god mode! (plus its assortment of ridiculous weaponry) So ludicrously enjoyable. Anyway, the new game looks like my kind of FPS: batshit crazy insane, baby!

Which is already included in GOG's version. ;)
Includes Extreme Rise of the Triad add-on pack that features 42 additional levels to play!

I didn't use it or any aid like it.

RodolphoZatanas: Here's a question: RotT had some rather varied music, how's the new game in the music department?
avatar
wolfza: I think I can answer that. Or rather, Gamespot can. This video is all about how the new ROTT soundtrack remains true to the original's, but with a modern (and somewhat heavier) take on the game's classic tunes.

Oh, that's too bad :( I didn't make it past the MORE HARDCORE comment about 0:40 because there is a person who should never have anything to do/say about music.

I just wanted an orchestral version of 'Havana Smooth' :(
