The Retro-Style Indie Adventure.

Resonance, a point-and-click that mixes classic adventure with twists and unique ideas, is available for digital pre-order exclusively on GOG.com for only $8.99--that’s 10% off the full price, only during preorders!

Resonance is an atmospheric sci-fi adventure in which four characters try to find a dead particle physicist’s hidden vault and prevent the new terrifying technology he’s discovered from getting into the hands of a dangerous organization. We’re not going to spoil the story for you, but the lives of four regular people you will control become entangled in a gripping thriller adventure. The classic point-and-click interface is accompanied by a unique long-term and short-term memory system, which allows to “collect” memories and use them to solve puzzles or start conversations and--in effect--rearrange the storyline.

Resonance features wonderful retro 2D pixel-art graphics, a riveting storyline, original soundtrack, professional voice actors, intuitive interface, and four playable and memorable characters. The game is available for pre-order on GOG.com starting today and will be released on the 19th of June. Until then, Resonance is available with a 10% discount and immediate access to all the goodies GOG.com has gathered for our users, including desktop wallpapers, avatars, a digital poster (suitable for printing), the game’s MP3 soundtrack, and video developer diaries.

Good choice! I was going to get it from WadjetEye on release, will think about getting it here. :)

MichaelPalin: I have heard that these guys are very good with graphical adventures, in particular The Shiva. If I could only enjoy playing graphical adventures...

Just out of curiosity, do all of the games from these guys one-problem-one-solution kind of graphical adventures or I can play them without getting stuck every half an hour. I really would like to give GA an opportunity, but unless they evolve to something more dynamic (I'm not talking about action or spectacle) I just cannot put myself play them.
Completely missed this, looks very interesting. Definitely on the wishlist, might pre-order.

Thanks, just bought the game :)
This looks like a good game but I couldn't figure out why it has low res graphics. I was going to ask if it is a remake of a classic. Then I noticed this:

"Resonance features wonderful retro 2D pixel-art graphics."

So, they did that on purpose? For nostalgia?
I'm sorry but I don't get the logic. I think it would be better to use smoother artwork.

It was done on purpose, yes.

I love artwork like this. Maybe a little because of nostalgia reasons, but I love the look and feel it has. Does not break the 'immersion' for me at all.

I don't understand all this minecraft-ish style in a lot of modern games.
Great to see David Gilbert on board. It seems GOG is the only place to pre-order the digital version at the moment: http://www.wadjeteyegames.com/resonance-pre-order.html

Edit: I'm sure we will see also his other games here soon. Sad he has not the right of Emerald City, which belongs to playfirst.

It's also a question of cost. It's much cheaper to do graphics in this style that still look good ("good" for this particular style of graphics, that is). These games are made on ridiculously low budgets. That's the result of being indie.

Personally I love this style of graphics, but if you can't look past this, then so be it. I think it's better games like this are being made under the heavy budget constraints of indie development than not being made at all.

Probably this 16-bit look and (handmade) artwork has been much more costly that going the "same-3d-engine-as-every-fps-and their-cousin-nowadays" route. And I like it a lot better, that's for sure.

They are typical representatives of the genre, so if you don't like the genre, chances are you won't like the games. I'd say that WadjetEye's games are a bit easier than your average point-and-click adventure and definitely solvable without using a walkthrough; the puzzles are not as obscure and illogical as in some other games and beside that, there aren't as many anyway, it's more about the story. But I can't guarantee that you won't get stuck as some point, because it is one-problem-one-solution, and also quite linear. However, if you get stuck every half hour, that would probably only add up to only about 3 times during the game, considering their short length. ;)

Please note that Shivah is currently on sale in the new Indie Royale Bundle:

If you're interested in touching things, the Wadjet Eye preorder gets you a big box, but it's $25 which I *think* includes postage.

And a bloody good game it is, too. Short and sweet. Very sweet.
