Homo ex machina.

Primordia, a post-apocalyptic classic 2D adventure from the publisher of Resonance and Blackwell Bundle, is available for pre-order right now 20% off for $7.99. Pre-order and download the playable preview of the game two weeks before the release!

Mankind is no more. There is only the Book of Man, which Horatio studies patiently every day. Horatio Nullbuilt version 5 studies the Book of Man the Creator when he's not fixing the UNNIC ship. Or is not sparring with his robot friend Crispin Horatiobuilt, which Horatio built. Or when he's attacked and deprived of the ship's power core. Especially then. Horatio will set on a journey through the desert wasteland and beyond to find the missing part and to find a little bit more about himself, his creators, and the humanless robo-world Primordia.

You know what to expect from Primordia if you're familiar with other adventures from Wadjet Eye Games--wonderfully pixelated graphics, challenging puzzles, excellent voice-acting (Logan Cunningham of Bastion fame voicing the main character), soundtrack, and, what's most important, the spirit of classic point-and-clicks made in the early '90s. Primordia takes a little from Machinarium (robot hero and robo-world) and Beneath a Steel Sky (cyberpunk and a sarcastic robo-sidekick) but adds its own religion and mythology, that are brilliant to discover.

Pick up Primordia right now for only $7.99 and get access to all the available goodies including soundtrack, artworks, wallpapers, and playable preview of the game. Primordia will be released on the 5th of December 2012.

ZwaanME: I'm pretty sure they're referring to the art style and setting of the game.
It's marketspeak, really, as in "If you liked BaSS, you will like Primordia". The major differences are as follows:
- a more unified look and feel, as opposed to BaSS' eclectic mix of genres;
- visuals: baroque (raygun gothic) instead of shiny-techy-futuristic;
- a whole another civilization, not the possible future of ours - robots are not humans;
- Primordia is much more epic, and setting background matters;
- npcs are integral to the plot - in BaSS, everyone except the protagonists and the antagonist(s) is incidental;
- puzzles are relevant; the quote "It's not our property or our problem" is emblematic of this: you won't be doing random things or picking up random items;
- high-tech tools that work on more-or-less scientific principles, you will have a plasma torch and a scintillation counter instead of the usual pair of wrench and screwdriver;
- the central mystery is fair; you can figure it out early (not "guess because you have seen/read/played something similar - it's rather unique), in which case the mystery becomes dreaded anticipation, and the plot works (if anything, the little "I see what you did there" details make it even better).

ZwaanME: Game play wise it'll probably be a lot like other Wadjet Eye games.
It's "a lot like other Wadjet Eye games" in the sense that it's also a point-and-click adventure made in AGS. Wormwood Studios is the developer.

mistermumbles: Once again (as was the case with Resonance), I'm not going to bother playing Primordia until release day.
Stay away from the forum then, just in case anyone who played the extended demo makes an excellent educated guess and spoils the central mystery for you.
would it be fair to assume that this will work on a mac as well as other wad jet eye games, with the assistance of crossover/wine?
Pre-ordered this a couple of hours ago. Looks like it would be pretty interesting. Only a couple of weeks. ^_^

Play the extended demo now. Maybe you'll want a boxed copy, and these are only available until release.

Thanks. I'll take a look.
Was drawn by the artwork alone, seeing Wadjet's name just cinched it for me. ♥
The demo works beautifully on Linux, just follow these steps to build AGS.

Indeed I do. Victor. :P
I'm depressed, I still haven't got around to playing the other Wadjet Eye Games, and I have such a backlog to play. Yet it looks good so I'll preorder, need to encourage good games and indie developers where you can.
❤ the music

Makes me want to watch Blade Runner again .
