Order in the line!

Papers, Please, a unique dystopian game of social drama, and political statements, challenging your alertness, attention to detail, and morals with the puzzling and stressful work of an immigration inspector, is available for pre-orders on GOG.com, for Windows and Mac, for only $9.99!

Comrade! As you assume your post at the Grestin Border Checkpoint the Ministry of Admission would like to remind you that your work is crucial to the safety of the People's Republic of Arstotzka. The enemies of the state are many and our borders should remain impenetrable. Stay alert! Terrorists, spies, and miscreants will take advantage of your every smallest mistake to enter our motherland and threaten the people. Be vigilant! Always check and double-check every detail. Never ignore any inconsistency. The safety of our glorious nation rest is your personal responsibility! Oh, by the way, comrade--you will be paid based on the number of people you control each day. And we're raising your rent.

Papers, Please simulates the work of a immigration inspector whose responsibility is to controll the passports and other papers of the people trying to cross the border of your country. Your job gets more complicated daily, as new regulations are passed by the Ministry of Admission and the illegal immigrants get more and more creative in the attempts of tricking you into letting them in. You will face the grim reality of a dystopian communist republic of the early 1980s as you try to support your family and not end up in front of a firing squad as a traitor. Challenging, morally ambiguous, and intense gameplay will blow your mind!

Pre-order Papers, Please for only $9.99 and feel the Ministry of Admission breathing down your neck, as soon as the game arrives (which is expected to happen on August 8).

HGiles: Hm.

TBH, the pre-order only extras makes me think this is basically the free beta, and the developer realized they needed to add something to get people to actually pay for it. Not exactly and endorsement. On the other hand, this does look very interesting and I'll probably preorder it anyway.
But why make the extras pre-order only? I don't think they're enough to make someone who wouldn't buy the game suddenly pre-order it and they end up annoying people that would be willing to buy the game at a later date...
Seems like a very odd choice.

Gah, too many interesting games coming too fast, first Spelunky, now this...and I even haven't got around to get Rogue Legacy yet.

Bad GOG! Get off my wallet!
Hm, this probably nails down all of next week's releases.

Dragon Commander on Tuesday, Spelunky and Papers, Please! on Thursday. Unless they got some surprise release up their sleeve. >_>

Yeah. IDK. Maybe they need money for some pressing bills and really, really want preorders now.

I dearly hope so. They do typically also do another release on days when a preorder comes out.

DarkoD13: "Bonus content included for FREE with purchase:
rulebook (for preorders only)
poster (for preorders only)"

Will there be a way to unlock this content after the game is released? Pre-order incentives are good, but a way to make them available for purchase after the game's release would be even better. I hope that you are addressing this issue.

Profanity: Standard GOG goodies are now pre-order goodies!
It does seem like the game should come with a rulebook for EVERYONE who purchases it.

So do I. Ah well, maybe they got something good lined up for the 600th release.
Exciting!
Watched TB's video on it sometime back. Nice, interesting game.
Exclusive bonus content for pre orders ?

Never you mind pre ordering it, skipping it entirely.
Very nice. I quite enjoyed the beta a while back and voted for it on Greenlight. I wasn't expecting to see it on GOG, though. Well, it's rather nice to be able to get a DRM-free copy from here, I've got to say.

Dragon Commander seemed to be a really big title they were pushing, I wonder if we'll get a dragon animation on the front page! :D (that would be pretty sweet) And I hope they keep the freeware version of Spelunky up, maybe with its own gamecard.

I've been checking this game's greenlight page almost every week since it was announced hoping for a release date. Had no idea it would come here. Forget the bonus content, I just want to buy the game right now.

For those wondering what's the difference between the beta and the final game, the beta was only 6 days long I believe and it hinted on some conspiracies and big things to come. The full game has a 30-day campaign that one would assume would expand on that, as well as an endless mode just to see how far you can go.
