A new "Fair Price Package" detailed.

As per today's update on getting back to our roots ([url=http://www.gog.com/news/getting_back_to_our_roots]which you can read here) we are happy to offer a new fair price package for Age of Wonders 3. We've made sure that the price difference is by largely covered by the extra gift codes you'll receive, so here's our updated pre-order offer, which will go live in the next two weeks:

The Fair Price Package for our UK customers affected by local prices is now one $9.99 code for anyone who buys the Standard Edition, and two $5.99 codes for the Deluxe Edition.

For other European customers affected by local prices the Fair Price Package for Standard Edition is now one $9.99 code and one $5.99 code, and for the Deluxe Edition it's three $5.99 codes.

If you already pre-ordered Age of Wonders 3 and received the bonus game gift from us, we'll send you the remaining gift codes to meet the new Fair Price Pacage offer detailed above. If your price difference happened to be $10.00 and you've already selected and redeemed a $5.99 game, please contact support so they can replace it with any of our $9.99 games for you.

Another thing--when the pre-order offer was launched you could pick a game from a selection of titles. We did not give you the freedom of choice and we would like to fix it. If for any reason you're unhappy with the pick of games that we offered and you ended up with something you're not entirely satisfied with, we invite you to pick something else from our catalog instead. Just contact our customer support and we'll be happy to exchange your free title for another game of the same price range.

If any of this seems unintuitive to you, our customer support team will be happy to help you. We do hope that this kind of "Fair Price Package" makes much more sense to you and that everyone's experience with getting their game from GOG.com will be as pleasant as we always aim for it to be.

GOG.com would like to thank Triumph Studios, the fantastic development team behind Age of Wonders 3, for working with us to make this offer possible.
Well..

Making Europeans pay more for the same product, than north americans aint fair.
Making North americans pay more than russians, aint fair either.

The whole thing is messed up.. and the only thing i say is:

Maybe it is time for piracy to rise again. Only then will companies stop beeing greedy. I remember a few years ago where pretty much everyone only had pirated software..

You want to charge me, as european, more for this game? you want to make up some excuses to deny that 1 € is worth a LOT more than $1 ? Ok, i will buy it and then pass it to 100 people free of charge. thats what you want? really? I dont think so.

On the other hand, if price is fair.. i will buy it, keep it for me and voilá.. the system works.

My faith is restored. With these offers, I will pre order the deluxe edition in a few days from the store. Just make sure at the next regional priced game we get store credit (and not coupons) for the difference.

mefet: Believe me, if you travel to a country without VAT and buy something there that is detected in customs when you return, they will charge you VAT for that purchase acording to some "guides" they are supposed to have.
But it is not the sellers responsibility to pay it, it is yours. I very much doubt that gog is paying VATs to all the countries in the world, but I am sure your gov would be happy if you report your gog buys to them and pay the fees.

You will automatically be charched for the VAT if you use PayPal. So I pay 32% more than US price plus 19% VAT in Germany. That makes 51%.

Poor GOG has to bow down to Steam and release it at the same time with them.

Actually, and this is not to point fingers at anyone, Triumph (AFAIK :) ) is in charge as to when, where, what time, and how the game gets released :)

Although, the how on our site is dictated by us with the simple rule: NO DRM! :)

I never would've imagined someone being excited that lots of things are "missing" but surely will be covered by DLC... That being said, I will wait for the "full" game to appear...

I know. But since Triumph subdues to Steam and GOG to Triumph, that means Steam wins. (:
Which is kind of a silly thing to do for a european developer to release it in such a way that the american market has the benefit. Well not my place to judge. I'll be visiting my grandmother and by the time I'm back, I'll hopefully be able to start downloading. Cheers.
I think this is the revenge of GOG for all the complaints against local pricing. They already said that local priced games will be released with a delay. :D

Yes, we'll give you fair prices but we'll delay everything. Join the dark side...

(This is a joke. There are many others like it but this one's mine.)
I want the game NOW! *whine*
When is it going to unlock?
