A new "Fair Price Package" detailed.

As per today's update on getting back to our roots ([url=http://www.gog.com/news/getting_back_to_our_roots]which you can read here) we are happy to offer a new fair price package for Age of Wonders 3. We've made sure that the price difference is by largely covered by the extra gift codes you'll receive, so here's our updated pre-order offer, which will go live in the next two weeks:

The Fair Price Package for our UK customers affected by local prices is now one $9.99 code for anyone who buys the Standard Edition, and two $5.99 codes for the Deluxe Edition.

For other European customers affected by local prices the Fair Price Package for Standard Edition is now one $9.99 code and one $5.99 code, and for the Deluxe Edition it's three $5.99 codes.

If you already pre-ordered Age of Wonders 3 and received the bonus game gift from us, we'll send you the remaining gift codes to meet the new Fair Price Pacage offer detailed above. If your price difference happened to be $10.00 and you've already selected and redeemed a $5.99 game, please contact support so they can replace it with any of our $9.99 games for you.

Another thing--when the pre-order offer was launched you could pick a game from a selection of titles. We did not give you the freedom of choice and we would like to fix it. If for any reason you're unhappy with the pick of games that we offered and you ended up with something you're not entirely satisfied with, we invite you to pick something else from our catalog instead. Just contact our customer support and we'll be happy to exchange your free title for another game of the same price range.

If any of this seems unintuitive to you, our customer support team will be happy to help you. We do hope that this kind of "Fair Price Package" makes much more sense to you and that everyone's experience with getting their game from GOG.com will be as pleasant as we always aim for it to be.

GOG.com would like to thank Triumph Studios, the fantastic development team behind Age of Wonders 3, for working with us to make this offer possible.

This is kind of the most epic turnaround a company ever did...
Niiiiice! So where are my bonuscodes? :D
Yes, I will probably not pre-order AoW3 but yeah, this new agreement is fine with me too :)

I'm unhappy with this.

I wanted to pre-order AoW3 deluxe edition for 23 euro (30$) and now I have to pay 45$.

Sure, I will get 3 6$ codes, but still I have to pay 1/3 more to get AoW3.

I understand the "flat price" for everyone, but that also means it's higher price for people from countries like Poland/Russia/Ukraine.
Damn, as I said, I'm hoping you guys won't go bankrupt because of this.

I...actually don't understand. The prices stayed like there were before, didn't they? You just got extra codes...so where's the problem? What did I miss?
Sweet jesus. Best company of all time?
Just bought both Age of Wonderses to celebrate.

Gollum? Is that you? :D
wow, just wow. The hopefull side of me says: yeah they listened! The synical side of me thinks: wow the preorders for age of wonders 3 must have been epically low....

Whatever the case: I am actually happy about this and think it's a good move.
Gift codes are a much better solution from the point of view of your customers. They can be used much more flexible. This is more the spirit of the old GOG and will make AoW3 probably quite a bit fairer and also more successful.

Would you have done it like this from the beginning it would have created considerably less disturbance and bad PR, I guess.

It's nice that you're listening to your customers. Spending $40 on a game sight unseen, with no way of judging its quality, is still absolutely ridiculous though.
funny, a 5.99$ code and a 9.99$ code would be enough to buy AoW 1 and 2 (but not along with shadow magic)

preorder the 3rd, get the previous opus

btw just checked here:
Retail physical PC version of AoW 3 is 39.99€
I dont know if the game is going on console platforms...

not ranting about gog here but instead about the stupid policy of digital=retail price
it is just huge boullsheet :) I mean the infrastructure cost of a digital version (server + bandwidth) cannot be compared to physical copy (media + box + factories + shipping + storage + retailer cut)

there is no way i would buy a digital stuff at the price of a physical copy

unless you consider the usual shit about "box+disc physical copy doesnt work unless you connect to internet and redeem the steam/activation code enclosed in the box copy" (and i dont mention even the "need to stay connected to play solo game" also)
then it would imply they consider DRM free as an added value
But again, tell me: cost of copy protection licence or implementing a drm inside a game vs not puting any ?

at least the gog trick seems to "surprisingly" respond to the huge onslaught of the past two weeks in a seemingly fair way.

but we must keep being watchful, because there will be other attempts made against drm free and pricing also
Still pre-order dlc garbage?
