A new "Fair Price Package" detailed.

As per today's update on getting back to our roots ([url=http://www.gog.com/news/getting_back_to_our_roots]which you can read here) we are happy to offer a new fair price package for Age of Wonders 3. We've made sure that the price difference is by largely covered by the extra gift codes you'll receive, so here's our updated pre-order offer, which will go live in the next two weeks:

The Fair Price Package for our UK customers affected by local prices is now one $9.99 code for anyone who buys the Standard Edition, and two $5.99 codes for the Deluxe Edition.

For other European customers affected by local prices the Fair Price Package for Standard Edition is now one $9.99 code and one $5.99 code, and for the Deluxe Edition it's three $5.99 codes.

If you already pre-ordered Age of Wonders 3 and received the bonus game gift from us, we'll send you the remaining gift codes to meet the new Fair Price Pacage offer detailed above. If your price difference happened to be $10.00 and you've already selected and redeemed a $5.99 game, please contact support so they can replace it with any of our $9.99 games for you.

Another thing--when the pre-order offer was launched you could pick a game from a selection of titles. We did not give you the freedom of choice and we would like to fix it. If for any reason you're unhappy with the pick of games that we offered and you ended up with something you're not entirely satisfied with, we invite you to pick something else from our catalog instead. Just contact our customer support and we'll be happy to exchange your free title for another game of the same price range.

If any of this seems unintuitive to you, our customer support team will be happy to help you. We do hope that this kind of "Fair Price Package" makes much more sense to you and that everyone's experience with getting their game from GOG.com will be as pleasant as we always aim for it to be.

GOG.com would like to thank Triumph Studios, the fantastic development team behind Age of Wonders 3, for working with us to make this offer possible.
Nup, I'm confused.

1.) I paid $44.95 for the Deluxe edition, so this doesn't effect me, correct?

2.) And I own all the games which were offered as a bonus so I get nothing there. For those unaware, you can't pick a game and get a code if you own it ...... all you can do is look.

Maybe you can contact GOG so they can get you something else. Then again if you wanted a code for one of the games you already own all of to gift someone else you might as well send them that code.

deonast: I'm torn about AoW3, I want the deluxe version but no FLAC soundtrack, FLAC is what encourages me to pay more for a soundtrack edition
avatar
Senteria: Maybe you could send the guys over at Triumph Studios a message?
Wow they got back to me quickly. "Hi ...., we plan on adding lossless FLAC. Ensure to check in a couple of weeks to see if the updates came through to be sure."

sounds promising.

Yes no bonuses outside of the Deluxe Edition contents. That is because we pay US prices (sure with an Australian currency conversion on top) but the base price is what the US market pays. Where as some European areas pay more based on Euros that are then converted to US and a higher price. So we get the better deal to start with.

Woohoo. I am very happy for you. Listening to the Age of Wonders 1 soundtrack as we speak. I so love that soundtrack. I played a little of SM but I did not like the music as much as I do with the first game. Love & Death -> 7.40 minutes. Pure goodness.

I think they got back to you so fast is because they aren't a huge company like i.e. Square Enix.

And maybe they don't get too many people emailing directly. I know at work, my work email account has 400 or so unread emails and it can be days sometimes longer before I read emails that kind of need same day response, I just get too many emails.

Namur: In light of the improved revised stance on regional tomfoolery i overlooked the pre order exclusive bull, this once, and pre ordered the deluxe edition.
Ditto (</aol>). I'm in the US so it doesn't affect me directly, but I want to reward GoG for listening and sticking to their principles. And a +1 for FLAC coming....

(I, too, got a coupon for one of six strategy games. Haven't seen what the list is yet, but I'm guessing I have them all.)

MaceyNeil: How long do the codes last for? I mean is it like a giftcard that if not used within a couple of months is essentially money in GOG's pocket they didn't end up spending or will i be able to wait for decent new releases (seeing how my catalogue is already full of the games i actually need).
avatar
TheEnigmaticT: I believe they're pretty much good for ever. Someone who's actually got codes from Witcher 2's preorder and who hasn't yet used them could confirm.
I can confirm this. Back in October last year, I used up my second gift code I got when I bought The Witcher 2. I had forgotten to use it previously and it had been sitting in my mail for over 2 years.
Still remember people went batshit crazy not too long ago; apparently AoW III wasn't grand enough according to their standard. Turn out this game is currently one of the most anticipated title in Q1, everywhere. To those people, jokes on you.

So, will we be able in distant future convert those codes into store credit?

That's a good question. Probably, but I don't know that we have an actual pipeline in place for that at the moment.
Perfect service as always :) GOG rulez!!!

Anticipated =/= quality
Actually I am pleased to see that the slight uproar left an impression.
It seems there is hope for GOG. Which is something that I appreciate.
Now I hope that the issue with the differential prices games will be handled more transparent in the future.
But that suddenly seems to be a real possibility again.

Will probably do that, it will answer a question I've often thought about.

I have a few severe dislikes about Steam, one of them revolves around their package "specials". If you own 90% of the games, you still pay the same money but can't gift the extra game codes, their basically lost. Some say "well if you don't like the deal, don't buy" which is the choice I had to make more and more once my Steam account passed the 500 games mark. It's the money driven morality behind Steam's decision to make me choose in this fashion which ultimately has lead to me never purchasing a game through them again, a decision I made in 2011 which has not been broken to this day.

DRM-Free games and Ethical Sales Practices are my most important principles.

I'm listening to Witcher 2 sound track while I do my Uni assignment, nothing like the tempered eerie music of a beautiful sound track to help me focus on Engineering Materials .... *sigh*
