A new "Fair Price Package" detailed.

As per today's update on getting back to our roots ([url=http://www.gog.com/news/getting_back_to_our_roots]which you can read here) we are happy to offer a new fair price package for Age of Wonders 3. We've made sure that the price difference is by largely covered by the extra gift codes you'll receive, so here's our updated pre-order offer, which will go live in the next two weeks:

The Fair Price Package for our UK customers affected by local prices is now one $9.99 code for anyone who buys the Standard Edition, and two $5.99 codes for the Deluxe Edition.

For other European customers affected by local prices the Fair Price Package for Standard Edition is now one $9.99 code and one $5.99 code, and for the Deluxe Edition it's three $5.99 codes.

If you already pre-ordered Age of Wonders 3 and received the bonus game gift from us, we'll send you the remaining gift codes to meet the new Fair Price Pacage offer detailed above. If your price difference happened to be $10.00 and you've already selected and redeemed a $5.99 game, please contact support so they can replace it with any of our $9.99 games for you.

Another thing--when the pre-order offer was launched you could pick a game from a selection of titles. We did not give you the freedom of choice and we would like to fix it. If for any reason you're unhappy with the pick of games that we offered and you ended up with something you're not entirely satisfied with, we invite you to pick something else from our catalog instead. Just contact our customer support and we'll be happy to exchange your free title for another game of the same price range.

If any of this seems unintuitive to you, our customer support team will be happy to help you. We do hope that this kind of "Fair Price Package" makes much more sense to you and that everyone's experience with getting their game from GOG.com will be as pleasant as we always aim for it to be.

GOG.com would like to thank Triumph Studios, the fantastic development team behind Age of Wonders 3, for working with us to make this offer possible.
OK, now I have to buy this game.... I hope my paycheck will come very soon :)

Anyway I'm getting this game doesn't matter for $40 or $45 o rwhatever - it's DRM-free, meaning that I don't have to worry about some ridiculous achievements and when internet is down I will be busy playing his game anyway. Thanks GOG for bringing such a good game - way much better than Omerta: City of Gangsters which I preorded based on the same principle, but haven't had uch fun with it so far...

henriquejr: Hi!

Two questions:

1) I'm from Brazil ! In case of preordering AoW3 , do I still get the gitt codes ?

2) From GOG's post: "when the pre-order offer was launched you could pick a game from a selection of titles. We did not give you the freedom of choice and we would like to fix it. If for any reason you're unhappy with the pick of games that we offered and you ended up with something you're not entirely satisfied with, we invite you to pick something else from our catalog instead. "

If I preorder now, will I be able to choose any games from GOG's catalog ?

Thanks!
1) The gift codes are only ment for people who paid more than the US price. It' s a kind of compensation. I don't know the prices in Brazil but if you paid more, you'll get your gift codes in about 2 weeks because GOG has to implement the program which will automatically send the keys to all users who deserve them.

2) I don't know.

I don't usually do pre-orders as there's no way of knowing what the game is like until it comes out, but I'm going to go ahead and buy AoW3 just because I want to support GOG's moves to support their customers. (And Triumph Studios, too, for working with GOG to make it happen.)

SLP2000: I'm unhappy with this.

I wanted to pre-order AoW3 deluxe edition for 23 euro (30$) and now I have to pay 45$.

Sure, I will get 3 6$ codes, but still I have to pay 1/3 more to get AoW3.

I understand the "flat price" for everyone, but that also means it's higher price for people from countries like Poland/Russia/Ukraine.
Ukraine's shipping up to have bigger problems then unfair international pricing imho.

How long do the codes last for? I mean is it like a giftcard that if not used within a couple of months is essentially money in GOG's pocket they didn't end up spending or will i be able to wait for decent new releases (seeing how my catalogue is already full of the games i actually need).

I didn't read the whole thread so maybe it's been answered, but I live in the USA and for some reason I got a bonus code (for a choice of a game from six strategy titles).

I'm pretty sure I'm not owed a game due to regional pricing, old or new policies.

Should I email you back the code, or just delete the email and forget it?

I believe they're pretty much good for ever. Someone who's actually got codes from Witcher 2's preorder and who hasn't yet used them could confirm.
I'd like to thank GOG for getting AoW 3 here. Without you guys there would be no way to get AoW 3 DRM free. Even boxed copies are infiltrated with Steam keys.
I really don't get this. Of course I don't want to have GOG pay any differences. On the other hand I absolutely fail to recognize why we should have different pricing. I also don't see the justification for VAT either. If GOG sells this game, fine. If in their country there is any VAT, they sure have to forward that cost to us. But I see no use in paying VAT in any country I am supposed to live in other than the country where the seller (GOG) resides.

I mean, when you buy US stocks in Europe you don't pay taxes on that either (well, banks don't). Why should other merchandise be treated differently?

It's about time GOG starts to support BitCoin.

I tend not to get boxed copies of games that have steam DRM. That said I end up buying them on steam if not available on GOG simply because it is cheaper and often with steam tied games you buy in store you end up downloading the steam version of the game anyway when it updates, besides a box for the shelf there is no value and just DRM.

I'm torn about AoW3, I want the deluxe version but no FLAC soundtrack, FLAC is what encourages me to pay more for a soundtrack edition
It's really a good offer now. I like the idea with the gift codes and store credit. Much more flexbile. I will recommend it to new users of GOG because the deal is now better than retail. No reason to buy retail at all.

However I won't buy AoW3 now because in my region the publisher takes a rather large share of the profit and leaves GOG with almost nothing or even less.

Maybe you could send the guys over at Triumph Studios a message?

One of the worst and rash ideas all over the forums.

Just sent them an email, but I'd have to assume now that GOG offers FLAC soundtracks that they must have asked if it was an option when negotiating to have their game here on pre-order. Steam offers FLAC as well and their game page spiel seems to indicate the MP3 only soundtrack as well. Will see what happens.

Believe me, if you travel to a country without VAT and buy something there that is detected in customs when you return, they will charge you VAT for that purchase acording to some "guides" they are supposed to have.
