Empire Rising

Moebius, a contemporary metaphysical adventure from the master storyteller Jane Jensen, the creator of Gabriel Knight and Grey Matter, is available 20% off for pre-order for Windows and Mac OS X on GOG.com. That's only $23.99 until April 15, when the game is expected to arrive. Pre-order now, and play the 2-chapter GOG.com exclusive demo while you wait for the release!

When a secretive government agency enlists Malachi Rector to determine whether a murdered woman in Venice resembles any particular historical figure, he is left with nothing but questions. Why would the U.S. government hire him--a dealer of high-end antiques--to look into a foreign murder? Why does David Walker, a former Special Forces operative he meets in his travels, feel like someone Malachi’s known all his life? And how come everytime Malachi lets his guard down, someone tries to kill him?

Moebius is a contemporary adventure that merges classic point-and-click puzzle solving with Jane Jensen’s sophisticated storytelling. Travel the world using Malachi’s unique deductive powers to analyze suspects, make historical connections, and uncover the truth behind a theory of space and time the government will defend at any cost. This thrilling new adventure game from master storyteller Jane Jensen (Gabriel Knight, Gray Matter) and Phoenix Online Studios (Cognition, The Silver Lining) introduces Malachi Rector, an expert in antiquities whose photographic memory and eye for detail transform people and clues into interactive puzzles.

If you miss the times when adventure games were played mostly for the great and immersive storytelling, not just for the puzzles, humor, and views, be sure to pre-order Moebius for $23.99 on GOG.com. That's 20% off the full post-release price, and you'll get to set the mood for the game with the full soundtrack (MP3/FLAC), available instantly. You can also jump right in to action with the GOG.com-exclusive demo, covering the first two chapters of the game! The 20% off special pre-order discount offer lasts until April 15, when the game is set for launch.

fronzelneekburm: Hold on, wait a minute... among the bonus content, there is an entry that says Moebius demo (PC). *lifts one eyebrow in a Mr Spockian way*

Is there any additional content in the deme that isn't in the actual game?
Resonance had a demo (that was the first act of the game) but it was made avalible only for those who pre-ordered (and then released to the general public some time near the game's release).

fronzelneekburm: One of the very, very few Kickstarters I backed that didn't turn out into a disappointment. Quite the contrary, the parts I played were immensely enjoyable (a lot of that was thanks to the great writing, especially the snide remarks made by the priggish protagonist) and Robert Holmes' soundtrack is absolutely brilliant!
Interesting. The comments I read on the Pinkerton Road forum suggested that it's not that great. As a low level backer I would have a choice between Moebius and GK1 20th Anniversary, and so far I figured that I'd pick GK1. That the first really positive comment I've read about the game. I guess I'll wait for reviews.

Ingsoc85: Great! Now you just need to add Gray Matter.

Novotnus: I wonder why it's still not here - I bought it from Polish CD Project shop, DRM-free.
(very good AA adventure, btw.)
It hasn't made it to steam either despite being greenlit I heard apparently the distributor went broke and that has tied it all up in legal issues or apathy.

But (I think) Jane Jansen still holds the rights? She was talking about making a sequel...

Tarhiel: Can´t wait :)

htown1980: Do backers get gog keys?
avatar
Tarhiel: I am sure we will. Will check my email after work, maybe they already send out gift-codes.
I don't know either I think I'm a handfull of updates behind I backed Pinkerton studios as well (via kickstarter). I'll have to see before going so far as pre-ordering.

I do like that they have FLAC.
The last release from Phoenix online (Cognition) had no FLAC option. I even offered to go buy a FLAC soundtrack if there was one available but looks like they don't want to release it in that format or can't.
Well, I just sent an email to Phoenix support asking if we can get GOG keys for backers.

Please report back if you happen to get a response, Crosmando - I'd be extremely interested in such an option, too.
Moebius conjures an image of big faces sneaking through bamboo on my Apple II.

Exciting... very interested to try this out.
Any idea how long it is to go through? Branchings/endings? I'm only shallowly into adventure games -- but this one might be "good enough" for me to pick up.
Sweet, but wont pre-ordering this. Way too big backlog for that.
He everyone, look! Me in college! :D

Man they really nailed it, right down to there being no girls in the room.

RadonGOG: Any Beta-Testers that would recommend preordering it?
Hey! I got to do a preview of Moebius and you can read it here: http://nerdybutflirty.com/2013/07/11/hands-on-with-the-moebius-preview-build/

I really loved it and would recommend the pre-order. I'm excited to play the full game, and should be doing a review on NBF soon.

You're welcome! :)

Also, I noticed some people talking about Grey Matter - you can get it on Amazon for $9.47. I got it there but haven't played it yet.
