(Until "people" generally starts making statements like that when having the CLEAR CHOICE then I do not think that we are going to see any major shifts in how things work - if we ever will that is...)
Because I want the Mac version. Gog is only offering the Windows version. If I don't make a statement, Gog will never make any major shifts in how things work. DRM-free is a great start. DRM-free and cross-platform support is even better.

You know, this just does not cost that much anyway, and I'm a bit of a fan of dungeon crawlers like this thanks to Etrian Odyssey and SMT, getting into the gameplay and party building aspects of Icewind Dale... I'm just going to pre-order anyway.
On GoG, though. Sounds simpler to get here. Sorry to the developers.

I *loved* Treasure of Tarmin! I still remember the times I would leave the machine running (disconnected) overnight when I had a particularly promising game, hoping that it would not have frozen or reset when I came back to play the next day . . . losing my first midas book to a reset, losing countless characters to bombs . . . my first encounter with a glowing door . . . that glorious first Minotaur kill (and then finding that deep-level Wraiths still induce panic and mad button-mashing to try to avoid combat . . .)

Recently played a bit on an emulator, and apparently years of gaming have trained me well - it was a LOT easier than I remembered it being (no, I wasn't using savestates). It was still a blast though, and had some funny moments - I killed 3 Minotaurs in one 2x2 room in my second game (with one or two more on the same level!).

(Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Cloudy Mountain was pretty fun too, and a much quicker game. Certainly more panic-inducing - nothing like being low on health and ammo, then finding that all the rooms around the ominous monster sound have the dreaded twisty passages (or are blocked by the invincible blob), inching toward the target and then retreating in a blind panic, firing wildly and killing yourself with a reflected arrow - still, even the sound effects from either game are enough to send me on a nostalgia trip, even Cloudy Mountain's nightmarish "you're being devoured" sound.)

Well , while you may quote correctly then so do I , it still says :

and at the page that you quote then it also says :

which make it sound as that "FAQ" is bit outdated , so while they may have the intentions of releasing on other platforms than Windows then it is still something that "they will look into" : "we will look into other platforms after the launch"..

And depending on How things goes then the outlook on that may vary...

At page you refer to there is a "Post 22" (22.Michelle Brodeur says: January 27, 2012 at 17:25) :
"Would like to own it on my mac first though.

Will you have a discount for people who buy it on multiple platforms?"

and that haven't even been responded to.....
Anyway , enough "chit-chat"... we have exchaged "viewpoints" and fact is that it is not out on/for MAC yet and if and when that still seems to be determined (their pages are a bit conflicting IMHO) .....

I think this debate has gotten to the point where logic breaks down and pure emotional fanboyism remains.

Jimmy is absolutely correct. Of the three pre-order options (one of which still isn't open, as far as I know), one is providing a goodies package and a promise of cross-platform installers (including some amusing meta-gamey stuff you may or may not care for), one has basically no advantage at all (except for the aforementioned meta-gamey stuff), and the last one gives you the same goodies package and two exclusive wallpapers (which again you may or may not care for). Any other interpretation of the products on offer is purely delusional.

Of course you're free to purchase whichever you want; that's very much the point. But whatever your perceived emotional value is for any of those options, it is always deeply subjective, and it's nothing to found a viable business model on.

MIK0: Or maybe not. GOG team clearly stated and proved that the service can go down anytime and maybe never return again. That's what we learn with the ill fated GoG PR stunt, and for that GOG can never be trusted on that front.
I can't believe someone is still upset about that.....they were closed for 3 days...big whoop. Maybe something to be upset about at the time, but not forever, imo.

Thats why you should back up onto an external drive or teo your gog games if and thats a big if GoG goes down you can still restore the games from backups and away you go.

On the other hand if steam went poof (another big what if) thats it game over unless they can deactivate the online portion of the authentication part of steam.
