dirtyharry50: How is that possible? Did they change how Steam's offline mode is enabled? For years you have always had to be ONLINE in order to enable offline mode. So in that case if your connection goes down you are shit out of luck since you can't get online to go offline. This has been a big bitch about Steam's offline mode for years.
i don't know if this was ever different. i sure as hell never noticed that they changed it.

i do know, however, that you need to prepare offline mode in advance. maybe that's what you mean. you have to have started each game you'd like to play in offline mode in online mode first, sort of like a verification. you also have to save your login credentials locally.

like i said, i found myself forced to use offline mode several times since February and it has always worked flawlessly.

nijuu: Offline mode works BUT if your going to be offline for any length of time, there is no way to know when you have to go back online to 'reauthenticate' your credentials then go back offline. I know.I asked Steam support and they weren't able to give me an answer on exactly how long you could stay offline for (days/weeks/months???).
AFAIK there are no reports anywhere that this is actually necessary. there are people who claim they've had Steam running offline (on a laptop, for example) for years and never once had to re-authenticate.

as far as i know, the re-authentication story is a fabrication.

Thanks. I just read that and it seems straightforward enough. I'm going to want to do that with all my games in preparation for the big move coming up so it hopefully will all work fine.

towerbooks3192: I think this will be good base on the youtube video. I am hoping these guys would release randomly generated dungeons. I don't mind much about the puzzles. All I want is to Loot,Craft,Kill in an RPG game.

I also hope that indie companies would make modern games similar to the great games here in GOG. If games are books then GOG is the lost library of Alexandria

There's not going to be randomly generated dungeons in Legend of Grimrock... I hope they make a level editor though. That would make this game 10 times more epic. =D
From what I have read from their site they said something about randomly generated dungeons to be out of the scope of their project but they would probably include it soon. Not much of a level editor guy. What's the point of playing your own levels when you know its secrets.

I would love level editors if we could easily access player created levels

not sure about random dungeons but they did say they'd make additional (non-random) dungeons if the game was successful enough.
The graphics have an interesting pre-rendered look about them, I think.... I might wishlist it.

With the level editor, we can create our own levels and let others play them... Or play the levels made by others.

I am not sure what you find so hard about accessing player created levels. Most games that include level editors have custom games uploaded all over the internet.

Fred_DM: so they made a single mistake, and that's a big deal? i guess it must be great being perfect and never making mistakes, huh?
The mistake was forgivable, it was what they did afterwards that pissed me off enough to stop buying from them. To sum up, support basically stated in the email that they restoring my account was a one time exception and if it were to happen again they'd permanently ban my account and I'd lose access to all several hundred games I bought from them over the years. Even though I had to go through various bank CS reps to find someone able to fax them the info they wanted proving their fault in the matter and wait more than 3 days anytime I tried to get Steam CS to reply back to me, instead of just saying sorry for the inconvenience and restoring my account, they threatened to steal (and yes steal is the appropriate term) all the money I invested over the years buying games from them should an error they don't know how or why it happened occurs again. Screw that.

Are you seriously just coming to GOG forums to convince people to buy stuff on Steam?

You just more or less summed up how I feels about "Steam". They have like a "god complex" and I feel that I have little or no rights and little or no security at "Steam"......

Pheace: With Steam I know exactly where everything is, even if my computer were to crash beyond recovery, I just reinstall Steam, load it up and everything is there. Just hit download and done.
How is this any different than GOG's format? Just navigate to the site, login and boom, everything's there. Even if you lose your login, you can still recover that. You're not limited in any capacity to how many computers you install it to.

Please, do not get me wrong, I'm a fan of Steam, have my collection of games as well. True, some of their titles does have the cloud feature which is nice, but it's not their hole catalog. I'm just trying to point out that GOG is providing the same service, with a lesser degree of hassle.

Erm... you do not even need to reinstall GOG.
