Fight heresy the old-school way.

Inquisitor is a game that will take you on a thrilling journey through a dark medieval low-fantasy world and satisfy your hunger for old-school RPG, and it's available for digital pre-order on GOG.com for only $11.99--that’s 20% off the full price, only during preorders!

Dark times have fallen onto the once-peaceful land of Ultherst. As the prophet Ezekiel foretold: Famine, Plague, and Death came to harvest the souls of the sinners and the innocent alike. In this time of hardship more and more people started to succumb to the Devil's whispers. Heresy and worship of dark powers grow stronger and more blatant with every new follower of the demonic path. This evil must be rooted-out and purged with fire. And you--out of all of the people faithful to the true religion--have been selected to restore God's holy law and order as the Inquisitor.

Inquisitor is a truly old-school cRPG with open-ended gameplay, a large world to roam freely, a plethora of items and spells at your disposal, a deep and absorbing story, and hundreds of lines of dialogs. Get Inquisitor now with 20% pre-order discount and gain immediate access to the chest of goodies that contains treasure such as a full game soundtrack, a collection of 68 artworks, the ominous Revelation of Ezekiel, and a full-fledged Inquisitor novel! The pre-order period will last until Wednesday, September 5 at 10:59 AM GMT.

If you're not yet busy rushing to pre-order this item of old-school excellence, take a moment and listen what Martin Kovar of CINEMAX--the studio that put more than 10 years into developing Inquisitor--has to say about his game.

CymTyr: WTF? I go to read the thread to see what the game's like and people are arguing over the character not being a female?
Actually I'm just arguing for the sake of bumping the thread to make more people notice it. Here, read my review.

Adzeth: No, no. People are arguing about the explanation given as to why there are no playable woman characters.
Okay I guess that makes sense....

...and a job well done to you, sir. I actually pre-ordered this morning.

You're doing a good job promoting the game. I just preordered it.
I haven't checked the site in a few days and I almost missed this. I don't read the new front page like I used to read the old one. I don't know why. But, I am surprised in a good way.

I pre-ordered it and am looking forward it. I'm wondering if I'll find any references to Jan Hus or find someone being burned at the stake yelling "Holy Simplicity!"
Animations and graphics are from another age, but it might be worth bearing with them to play a game of this depth. Here's hoping the story and setting are good and they didn't go for quantity over quality.

10 years in the making, wow.

You're from US and ... Know Jan Hus?

edit: But nah, it's not from actual medieval Europe, and even if it were, it's from 12 century, way before his time.

Well, Jan Hus is quite known I'd say. For example Mussolini (yes, that Mussolini) wrote a book about him :P

Asbeau: Nobody expects the Inquisitor pre-order!
I watched a documentary (or was it the BBC QI program?) about a month ago and apparently the Spanish Inquisition gave 30 days notice. So I guess people did expect the Spanish Inquisition, perhaps just not during dinner.

I think it would be truly evil to stop someone eating their dinner and question them while their dinner sits there going cold and they get more and more hungry. Do I have what it takes to be an Inquisitor?

Maybe people couldn't read the notice.

Or perhaps it was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard.'

Tarhiel: Nobody forces you to. It´s just some of us like challenge and find most of nowadays games easy.

Well yeah, it's just that it's not THAT difficult to get difficulties catering to as many players as possible. All you need to do is damage reduction / increase as TES games did, and suddenly, you get a game that everyone can enjoy.
I would argue that it´s not just damage reduction/increase, which makes a good difficulty options, but also AI mor/less sophisticated, more/less medkits/lifepotions, more/less XP and so on , but I´ll leave it at that :)
low rated
Sorry, making a new game in a fixed zoom isometric view (are those sprites?) amongst older games that look much better, really strikes me as being as silly as trying to pass off a washboard as a washing machine. Just a pointless waste of effort regardless of how good the storytelling or gameplay might be.

I'd probably wait until I've played a game before declaring it a waste of effort or subjecting it to any other similarly harsh criticisms. But to each their own.

I've never been to any European country either but most of my ancestors were Czech so I studied up on some of the history and found the story of Jan Hus to be interesting to me. Dad's side of the Czech family in America was Catholic and Mom's side was Freethinkers. There was some tension in general in Czech-American communities with the history of Catholics connection with Habsburg oppression.

I didn't expect Hus to be a character or anything like that, just thought there might be a shout-out or easter egg somewhere. I find Peter Chelcicky interesting too but he wasn't burned at the stake as a heretic like might happen in Inquisitor :p But yeah, if it's similar to 12 century, I don't expect any of that. I am intrigued about what the story will be like in this game though.
