Fight heresy the old-school way.

Inquisitor is a game that will take you on a thrilling journey through a dark medieval low-fantasy world and satisfy your hunger for old-school RPG, and it's available for digital pre-order on GOG.com for only $11.99--that’s 20% off the full price, only during preorders!

Dark times have fallen onto the once-peaceful land of Ultherst. As the prophet Ezekiel foretold: Famine, Plague, and Death came to harvest the souls of the sinners and the innocent alike. In this time of hardship more and more people started to succumb to the Devil's whispers. Heresy and worship of dark powers grow stronger and more blatant with every new follower of the demonic path. This evil must be rooted-out and purged with fire. And you--out of all of the people faithful to the true religion--have been selected to restore God's holy law and order as the Inquisitor.

Inquisitor is a truly old-school cRPG with open-ended gameplay, a large world to roam freely, a plethora of items and spells at your disposal, a deep and absorbing story, and hundreds of lines of dialogs. Get Inquisitor now with 20% pre-order discount and gain immediate access to the chest of goodies that contains treasure such as a full game soundtrack, a collection of 68 artworks, the ominous Revelation of Ezekiel, and a full-fledged Inquisitor novel! The pre-order period will last until Wednesday, September 5 at 10:59 AM GMT.

If you're not yet busy rushing to pre-order this item of old-school excellence, take a moment and listen what Martin Kovar of CINEMAX--the studio that put more than 10 years into developing Inquisitor--has to say about his game.
to Telika: "Aha ? So, in the game, torture can lead to false info ?"

Yes, you can trust nobody in this game. Everybody tries to use you or bribe you. And its up to you if you are after truth or quick cash.

mistermumbles: On an off-note:
I finally actually watched the promo video that came with the news article, and I must say I really like how the video opened with a grid of short gameplay vids of games, most of which are very recognizable, available on GOG. Is that the first time it was used? It can't be too old since I spotted Symphony on there. Anyway, I just thought it was nicely done.
Our video guy is sure to appreciate that.

We're leveling up our trailers at the moment, and coming up with a coherent visual identity for them; there will be other video stuff coming soon.
I love the setting and Inquisition theme - in Czech Republic they now the subject very well as in The Middle Ages some people were burnt over there (and in Eastern Europe in general too). The game looks good (well, the animation could be smoother), but I crave for some old school RPG in new setting and I think that this game will deliver. And I hope that if there are some bugs, they will be fixed soon. Thanks GOG for selling this game after Legends of Grimrock!! I hope that the next one will be an awesome RPG (still in final stage of development) AGE OF DECADENCE!!

We surely do - Kladivo na čarodějnice(1969 - imdb) and NSFW of course
Hmm... some of the shots look a little... empty, a bit weak, but I'm liking the idea, at the very least. Could always use more dark fantasy, I think. Definitely something I'll keep an eye out for, since I'm not planning on pre-ordering anything at the moment.

Also gave me a Lionheart vibe.
Oh, btw, even though I don't speak Czech myself, I think it's great that the original Czech language version will also be included in the package. Well done! :)

Well, color me interested. But isn't this kind of coming out on Torchlight II street?
Also, 10 years in development? And THREE just to translate it? We're either looking a REALLY loving crafted game ... or Stalker. :p
Wishlisted.

tejozaszaszas: Old school RPG? It resembles Diablo 2 for me... Or at least it looks like.

Fenixp: go and read. No I will not stop.
Thanks for that link, I looked all over the net trying to find a review.

Colour me lazy, but at this stage in my life I dont want to play a frustrating game, the setting intrigues me and the idea of being an inquisitor is also appealing, but frustration isnt.

Thanks for the heads up.

Or a relatively small development/translation team.

Don't count on this. On czech forums they mentioned that original developer team fell apart and any tweaks and bug hunting is very limited because of it.

Asbeau: Nobody expects the Inquisitor pre-order!
I still don't get it... -_-

Aaron86: I take it the morality system is from the perspective of a pious Christian European from the Middle Ages. Is this accurate?
avatar
Fenixp: Sometimes yes, sometimes not - do keep in mind that European morality IS based on Christian morality. I actually find this question quite hard to answer, but I do believe it depends on the quest and the game really won't reward you for senselessly murdering people deemed 'heretics.'
I might have worded my question poorly. I was just curious about how ironically or unironically right-wing the scenario is. ;)

I was actually wondering the same thing. Whether it's like, "This is a pagan. He is unequivocally evil. Murder him" or, "This is a pagan. A lot of people think he's evil because he doesn't believe in the same god as them. You decide what to do with him".

He's joking using part of a very famous line from Monty Python "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition"

Merchito: Wow... I hope music sounds more adapted to the context during the rest of the game. I mean, doing so many artistic efforts to visually bring a medieval atmosphere, and puting on top of that some hardcore tunes that take you into the bedroom of a 16 years old 21st century teenager, it's a mistake. And I notice several medieval themed games crafted in eastern Europe insist in doing this bad audio choice. Strange...
Anyway, sounds files can perhaps be replaced if they are easily accessible and in a common format.

MartinLinda: Hi, I'm the composer of the original score of this game. The "hardcore" piece used in the trailer (even it was inspired by Apocalyptica as there were used overdriven Chelloes instead of guitars) is the only one such devillish music in the game:) The rest of two hours long soundtrack is prety much in the medieval atmospheric mood and orchestral style...
Very cool and good to know. Thanks :) Looking forward to it even more now!
