Welcome to relativity! Get your complimentary fez.

FEZ,an original, incredibly deep perspective-twisting puzzle-platformer with countless awesome stages to explore, is available 10% off for pre-order on GOG.com. That's only $8.99 until Wednesday, May 1, at 9:59AM GMT, when we expect the game to arrive.

A unique title like FEZ demands we did something special. This is why we decided to start a little weird contest, so you get the chance to Win a fez to play FEZ in a fez! That's right! We're giving away 20 FEZ fezes to people who pre-order the game. The game's puzzles are highly complicated, challenging, original, and complex, so we decided to keep the contest rules as plain, simple, and uninspired as possible. Here's what you need to do:

1. Pre-order FEZ here for only $8.99: www.gog.com/gamecard/fez
2. Write to contest@gog.com and tell us why you should win a fez
3. Profit: win one of the 20 awesome fezes to give away! (We'll start shipping them worldwide on May 1st, so that's the deadline for submissions.)

See the fez here.

FEZ is a puzzle-platformer like no other. First of all, its gameplay mechanics come with a perspective-changing twist, that make every stage of the game not one, but four 2D landscapes. You'll have to use that to your advantage and figure out how to make seemingly impossible jumps. That's just scratching the surface, though. There's no telling just how many complex and original puzzles have been hidden in the world of FEZ. That might be the first game in quite some time, that will make you take notes while you play, so you can crack some of the game's secrets and understand its strange languages. There's so many layers and levels to the world you'll be exploring, that you probably won't see the half of it at your first playthrough! Pair that with incredibly diverse level-design, and charming pixel-art (ummm... sorry, trixel-art) graphics, and what you get is one of the most remarkable titles of our time. Be sure not to miss it!

Pre-order FEZ today to enjoy its mind-bending perspective-twisting charm at 10% discount! Remember, the pre-order offer lasts until Wednesday, May 1, at 9:59AM GMT

I -still- have no idea what he did so I can't say if that's the case, but sometimes I feel people need actual problems in their lives, so they stop fabricating new ones :-P

Adzeth: Have you watched Indie Game: The Movie? If you have, it was the guy who lives a very troubled life.
Nope. I don't really have any intention to unless someone tells me that it's not 'All AAA games suck, indie games are the only good thing ever!' garbage.

Profanity: That would be damage control, which would just make me dislike him even more.
It would certainly be seen as such, but still, it would've been the 'right' thing to do, not that i'd care much about it anyway.

And apparently the presales are going so good that a contest has been added.

Yes the guy is a bit of a neurotic prat but then artistic types tend to be and he's a far cry from the contemptuous practices of major video game publishers.

Most importantly though the game is damn good ! There's no dying or combat but it's full of the joy of discovery and requires an unusual amount of thought compared to most modern games. I found it to be a great adventure and relished progressing through it. This game is a true indie gem, original and engaging.

The game is also priced far better than a lot of Indie titles on here and I personally hope it does a lot better on pc. I'd buy it again myself but funds are tight at the moment.

(See the brilliant Indie Game: the Movie for some insight into the development of the game.)

This is a nice surprise. I thought I heard somewhere that Fez was never coming to pc.

JustADreamer: Afaik he did ama on reddit recently and some people were still giving him a hard time about this infamous quote. Don't understand why some people are so uptight, just enjoy the freaking game and its pc release.
Indeed. The guy puts his foot in his mouth a lot and really needs to learn how to keep his opinions to himself (due to some underlying anger issues no doubt) but the game itself is quite excellent, or at least I think it is. Played it on my brother's 360 a few months ago and have been wishing for a GOG release.

Fill Phish seems like the kind of guy who was picked on a lot as a kid and he didn't have a way to channel his aggression so now it's manifesting itself in a weird sort of 'I'm pretending to not give a fuck what anyone thinks' attitude. But who knows, I could be wrong.

Either way, this is a great game.

Let me get this straight, you are giving away hats with the pre-orders?

Zoidberg: Anyway, not buying this before I get really positive reviews and a really low price. Still not liking what he said about PC players... we are the master race after all...
Well, at least he says it out loud. Actually, a lot of people in the industry feel the same way. Developing for PC is a pain in the ass, supporting the product even more so... Anyways, I find this whole PC gamer master race concept quite fun, it is like saying you are better than golf players because you don't play golf with a golf club, but with a baseball bat, because you can hit golf balls with baseball bats too!

Yes, we've got 20 of them to give away and all you gotta do is pre-order the game and tell us why would you want a fez to get one of them. 20 people that we'll select based on the argument they make for a free fez will be shipped their hats on May 1 :-)

Damn... now I want that hat... but I'm not pre-ordering it..

Usual question in these things. Does buying a gift-code makes one eligible for this offer or not?

I can imagine the wife's reaction to an actual fez showing up in the mail

"Baby, did you order a fuzzy cup from Poland?"
avatar
fortune_p_dawg: "Baby, did you order a fuzzy cup from Poland?"
And depending on accent, the following dialog:
- "No, it's a fez cap".
- "That's what I said, a fuzzy cup".
I've met person like this in real-life couple of time. Funny though they're trying to sell their product but at the same time very defensive and have no problem to snub any potential customer openly.

By the way, i hope any personal issue with the creator won't affect the reviews.

When people asked him about the possibility of a PC port he tweeted that it was a console game and PCs are for spreadsheets. Now, that it's actually coming to the PC I think he outright says he's doing the port for money but come on, it's not like he's an EA or Activision and given it's Xbox and GOG pricing I don't really think he's particularly greedy.
