As to credibility - yes. If you don't know most important info about W40K universe your argument is invalid. Why? Because we say so and we're right, same way you are having a "healthy debate here".

Also this is a game/fiction, and people can have differing opinions on it, versus a topic that has hard truths or facts associated with in which good knowledge is needed to form a solid understanding or opinion.

GameRager it's well worth grabbing some of the codex's if you have some friends who play and study the back story. It's incredibly well written, the battles are perpetual and no one can ever win because of plausible yet annoying reasons. Except the Orks that is :P

I wish you would read what you type out to yourself and hear how it sounds. Twice you have been asked to go and read the fluff and twice you have decided not to because your opinion is just as valid as anyone elses even though you admit you don't know much about the setting. If you want to talk about the series of books on Dune you are expected to have read them, if you want to give your opinion on a movie you are expected to have watched it and if you want to debate Warhammer 40,000 then at least for the love of god go and read the fluff because you are sounding like a know-it-all opinionated arsehole.

And I weill possibly.......but again, a new universe would be both refreshing and welcome to some. Not the longer playing fans perhaps, but why should they get prefgerential treatement forever at the expense of stagnating the main storyline and not having a side universe of some sort?
Oh stop acting higher than thou......I did read some of it and btw i've read some articles on that wiki before. I'm not saying my ideas are the best but imo could be nice.

But you never read/played with any of the codexes, so why do you want them to change if don't really know what they're about?

Pre-heresy, gorkmorka, Rogue trader, Space Hulk, Armageddon, Necromunda, etc etc...

I know the main storyline and the basic details of the setting and imo that's enough to make an opinion on just the main storyline....again, one doesn't need to know everything about fictional settings to form an opinion on them. Like for example some know alot about stgar trek and some very little, but everyone knows the basis tenets of the federation and what the show is about.

I think you find that what you are talking about is already being done, instead of adding another universe or major plot twist they more or less introduce new legions and squads with backstories to each race. It does keep it refreshing.

I never said I wanted everything to change, just that it would be nice....it could even just be a branching offshoot storyline and others could still make stuff for the original storyline.

Well that certainly would be an option its up to GW to advance anything in the warhammer universe. They are very protective of their IP and seem to be do well with it. I personally like it as it stands, as do alot of other people.

Thats not to say there isn't ever any changes in the 40k universe. Both the Necrons and the Tau were not always apart of the fluff of the game. They both got added in later and written into their own storys. With the size of the universe they could add another race at any point and write those in as well.

So they can and do change parts of whats going its just the setting they want to keep as it stands. Like I said it really is more of a backdrop for all the other things that happen rather then the focus of the universe.

I mean an offshoot where the emperor is reborn/etc, or an offshoot of non xenophobic humans arises & irks the imperium into some sort of civil war....etc.

No you know the setting you don't know any of the stories. Have you read any of the Eisenhorn books? Or the Inquisitor Wars trilogy? Or the Horus Heresy novels? No. So essentially you know bugger all but the main players and the fact a lot of shit goes down.
