I have been playing 40K since Rogue Trader and i'm pretty sure someone could correct me on something. The very reason you are having this argument is you don't understand the 40K universe. You want to turn it into Star Wars and let me assure you if that ever happened a legion of fans would decend on Nottingham and would burn the city to the ground.

I meant i'm informed enough to make an opinion on how the main storyline is stagnant and how I think it should go. Just like you can have opinions on me or what flavor of ice cream is the best of all time. (probably bad example but bear with me just a bit)

And they would be welcome to, but again many show/etc creators have changed series before, and fans accepted it or left entirely. It's not up to the mainline fans but the creators of the IP, and I never said the changes had to be to the main universe. It could again be a coexisting alternate storyline or offshoot.

I am kind of afraid that this game might go a bit too far in depicting how Space Marines are in the universe. I understand going for wider audience but it would be nice to show SMs as the incredible hulks they are. That might upset folk who are just seeking for simple hack and slash.

At least that was my thought after I watched the trailer, still need to preorder this :)

The game looks like decent fanboy service. We all know the fluff on Space Marines has never actually matched the game rules so hopefully the game will make them as powerful as they are supposed to be.

Well 40k universe have some incoherences, like when the Squat mysteriously disappeared, or when the Tau appeared from nowhere. I've heard from many fans that the Emperor will reborn as a god in the warp, caused by all human worshiping (as happened with other non C'tan gods), anyway I don care much about this.

Well it looks quite good from the gameplay trailer. Tons of enemys all around and a whirlwind of death. I'm not a big fan of the thunder blood splatter stomp. Looks a bit crap and was probably a lazy way to animate a game mechanic to kill of tons of little enemys with rage.

It should hopefully be a decent hack and slash though.

To be honest... You're right. There is only so much you can do to the tee, realistic approach to this game might not be much fun in this case. Collectors Edition looks well good.

Are there details on Necron/Tyranid presence in the game?

That would just create a complete mess since both newcomer and old fans would be confused, i doubt any form of fiction can work that way. has this actually been implemented once?

Actually yes, many comic heroes have alternate storyline universes all the time. Zombie ones are good imo.

I think you are missing something that is hindering your understanding of 40k. IMO (I have only read the books) the overreaching plot is intentionally vague. It was said earlier that the characters are the little people, and the point is that the little people don't get the big picture. It even seems to change when you read from different perspectives. You are partially right but you don't "get it" yet. The setting isn't a universe as much. Its an endless war. Does that make sense?

There was nothing mysterious about the disappearance of the Squats, GW struggled to make them relevant especially as they shared many similarities to the Imperial Guard. It made them almost impossible to maintain in the 2nd edition when mankind became far more xenophobic. The in-canon reason for their elimination was Hive Fleet Kraken consuming the homeworlds. Officially they no longer exist but unofficially in several novels they do but as scattered remnants which means they can bring them back if they choose to. Also the Tau were encountered but not mentioned because they were no evolved into sentience at the time, the Imperium regarded them as an indigenous race of little interested during the Great Crusade. The Tau evolved rapidly though, far more rapidly than is normal so when the Imperium encountered them again they had become a threat albiet a very small one.
