Yeah, Precursors is an extremely ambicious project which somehow actually works - with community patch at least. Definitely worth trying, altho it lacks a good deal of polish.

Jeezus the concept looks sweet! reviews don't look so good though unfortunately :S maybe with an enormous budget and lengthy development cycle that game would have been revolutionary!

It has been a couple of years since I played it from GG, but back then it did not.

This one has a lot of fixes. Anyone up to the task of hunting down up-to-date links? I found one that was available at BeamDog (lol?) but it requires purchase of the game from their site and I rather get it from GamersGate instead. Some mention about megaupload links at RPGWatch but that site has been down a few years now.

The 1.8 community patch I gave a link for is from february 2014. Do you mean there are either more recent versions or other fixes?

There's something called The Precursors Fan Improvement Pack. Then there's a couple of them that changes voice acting, some that fixes an ATI issue but that specific fix was incorporated in Wesp5's patch (then one you linked) and something about disabling film grain (not really a fix but personally hate film grain so it's a plus).

That Fan Improvement Pack is the one that is hard to find.

GamersGate includes a separate download called 'Russian Sound Fix' (1.3 gigs packed) with the only disclaimer being 'Use only if you know what you are doing'.

Apparently after doing some searching it's possible to use that then apply some English fix to get the quality sound of the Russian version (that 1.3 gig file) but with English voice acting. I'm not sure what order and how to accomplish this yet though.

Are you sure? I mean, about GG still having it; I've seen a few people mention having bought White Gold there, but I can't find it on GG.com or GG.co.uk. Maybe it was removed at some point.

Ah, that's a shame. As I can't even find an entry for it on IsThereAnyDeal, seems the English-language version is completely off the market currently.
