Boobies in the gameplay video:-) I wonder if they will censor the US boxed version. Not that I care because I'm sure the GOG version will be uncensored.
Do we actually know if the Steam version of the game comes with achievements? Assuming it does, I'd love CD Projekt to give players the option of registering a key with Steam, just for the sake of getting those. :P

StingingVelvet: I want my nice game in a box, sorry, but this is a neat thing for GOG to try. I don't get the "wow this is risky" thing many sites are saying, DRM doesn't work at all anyway.
A stellar and classy move by GOG, entirely congruent with their distribution philosophy. And StingingVelvet is correct, DRM doesn't work except to piss off the PC-buying fanbase. in 2008 Spore was the most heavily pirated game out there on account of invasive (and touted as "uncrackable") DRM. In 2009 Call of Duty 2: Modern Warefare took the cake. And the new reigning champion is Starforce 2. It's something of a good-faith system. There are hundreds of thousands of little kobolds out there who refuse to pay for video games and that will never change. I really appreciate GOG continuing to make the process of game purchases and playing here painless, DRM-free, and entirely in the control of the GOG user, whether he's online or offline, and not forcing "clients" on us.

I'm no longer interested in new games; most of the game companies I was loyal to bellied-up or adopted a different design philosophy that may get more market share but unfortunately leaves me cold. So no Witcher 2 for me. But it's capital, simply capital of GOG to do this (and the pre-order page is a beaut). Cheers, old chap!

I'm pretty sure what's-his-name said so during the live thing.
No DRM and they will even give be $6 worth of credit because of the difference in pricing from county to country. It’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. I’ll have to think it through as to whether I actually want The Witcher 2 though. I did play the first one, got 19 hours in but never finished it.

It doesn’t matter whether I get it or not though, this is still the most awesome thing I’ve seen from a digital distributor.
Ok, so. Bad things summary:
-Inventory looks very bad and not comfortable to use. They said it was a WIP version, so i hope it will be closer to the original one. This looks like "huge list you forget what's there" kind of inventory for the gamepad, and it was never good to use
-Facial animations should be cleansed with fire. I really really hope not to see these in the final game.
-As i wrote earlier, no Polish in the "language" list of GoG or Steam versions. i can deal with the lack of the russian language, but Polish dub was the only way to play the original since the Enhanced Version. So Polish Dub with other subs is an absolute must.
-Dialogue options were not very good. While i'm not expecting the "mass effect/dragon age" kind of thing, where dialogue sounds more fluid, it still loks uninteresting. And having 1-9 to choose on keyboard would be cool too.
Other than this, the game looks absolutely beautiful. And the only two things stopping me now are the money problems i have and the lack of Polish in the language list.
Now, this is just wrong.
The game's polish and there is no polish language available?
I just can't imagine playing this game in any other language.
Does that mean that us Polish folks won't be able to get this title DRM-free?

Sorry but what the fuck?
This just made me want to boycott this title.

Kyojinmaru: I don't like this... I hope CDP only doing this with his games.
How about instead of posting things like this you visit the preorder page and check out the FAQ?

11. Does this release mean GOG will introduce full price, new games?

No. We're still devoted to bringing you classic games with no DRM at incredible prices. This is a one time special offer to promote the great RPG by our sister company CD Projekt RED, the developer behind The Witcher franchise.

Paul_cz: Ok guys, guess what.

I will buy this (already preordered) and I will also buy CE.

Why?

Because I LOVE THIS COMPANY.

This company has balls of steel, as Duke would say.
This. I have preordered a GOG version and CE on Amazon :)

Just wondering...if I haven't played the first game will I be able to understand the story in this one?
Well this is unexpected. Was gonna wait for the price to come down but damn I can't refuse an offer like this. DRM free and free stuff on a NEW GAME from one of the developers I like?
I have found this on Steam's video.

Sneaky :)

Done and done. I wish I could just pay it in full up front though.

When GOG Beta closed and they opened GOG, there was several interviews with the people in charge with GOG. In three separate Interviews GOG said it's main goal is to be a direct competitor with Steam.

Initially I thought that was laughable at best. GOG only has older games, Steam has both new and Old games. The only way to compete with Steam would be to offer New games in addition to Old games. I think this is GOG's first step toward the goal of competing with Steam. I am very pleased with this because I am extremely ANTI-DRM. If a game has ANY DRM outside a basic CD-Key I will simply pirate it.

Witcher 1 was a mixed bag for me. The Game play was on the weak/so-so side but everything else was great. Overall, I enjoyed it alot and played through it twice. Since they have gone for the completely DRM free route with the Witcher 2 on GOG and they have NOT tried to appeal to everyone(which ruins game franchises) I am confident this game will be better than the first game.

The broader audience you try to make a game for, the worse the game becomes. Since CD-Projekt are clearly targeting PC RPG fans it's obvious they will try to make it a great game instead of a good game that appeals to the majority of gamers. This type of behavior alone warrents my support even if the witcher 2 turns out worse than the first.

In closing; congratulations on getting the Witcher 2 on GOG, Now don't neglect what got GOG where it is are now; Old Games! I hope we see more new games on GOG because GOG's services are supreme for digital distribution.

El_Caz: It's a one time only thing to support their sister site and such. Excepting this, it's business as usual
After that last stunt. Hopefully this is not a taste of things to come.
the Impulse version also DRM free
