DarrkPhoenix: You must have a seriously badass motherfucker handling your negotiations.
Probably the Marcin raptor I saw in another thread.

DarrkPhoenix: BTW, how did you guys manage to convince Atari to go along with this DRM free release? You must have a seriously badass motherfucker handling your negotiations.
They convince them with a swimming pool full of money from recent D&D rerelease sales.
I guess the difference between a DRM game and one without is only a few days to have it pirated. Announcing it DRM free to the four winds when everyone else is going the other way is a sure fire way to get the support of anti-DRM people. That boost alone should upset any lost sales from having it pirated the very first day of release, because, let's face it, it will be pirated immediately.

Still, I really wish CD Projekt gets the support of a shit ton of people. If the game succeeds being DRM free, it will really set a precedent that hopefully others will follow.

Damuna: Steam lists the game's publisher as CD Projekt RED. I don't think they're dealing with Atari anymore. :)
The Wikipedia page lists the publishers involved as CDP for Europe, Atari for North America, and 1C for Russia.

HereForTheBeer: True, but if you're not a pirate then it's nice to get your games without some of the hassles that come with today's copy protection. As a paying consumer, I appreciate that they're doing this with a brand-new release.
I appreciate it too, I'm just saying I don't think it takes balls or is risky, since pirates get every game DRM regardless.

You don't get a free game until you pay for the Witcher 2 on or after release day.
Could you guys please also bring the original Witcher game (including all the extra content in the collector's edition) to GOG? I have not played the original one and I would like to play that too.
I haven't played the first one. What is it comparable to? Is this one much the same?

EDIT: Cancel my second question. No one knows, of course. I just got caught up in the moment.

You know, Im now buying 2 copy's of The Witcher 2... Limited Edition and DRM free edition

Its official, I would pay more money to get my games without DRM

Love to get the first one DRM Free too, Theres a patch to remove it yes, But it takes ages to install via disc :/
I personally don't like PC new game because you have to upgrade your computer (CPU,RAM,Video Card) for those game. I just think it is too much for me that on top of the game price I still have to pay for those hardware upgrade. What's worse is almost each new game require more and more, it's a never ending story. That's why I prefer buying new console game not PC game, and why I like this site for offering old game. Well, I think GOG doesn't need to offer *very old* game, games that are two or even one year old is fair to me. But to tell the truth, I don't like the idea of *new* game offering here. It looks like to me that GOG is distracting their philosophy. However, if it is business terms and deal with the game company for those company to offer games to GOG then I will feel more comfortable.

HereForTheBeer: Dang - brand new, full-featured, full-length RPG to be available DRM-free.

StingingVelvet: Ever game is DRM free for pirates, I fail to see much of a difference.
The difference is paying customers don't get the shaft. It's not that hard to figure out, really. Or would you rather they go with Ubisoft's plan?

Aieeeee.... for the last freaking time it's a one-time thing. It's called cross-promotion. Expensive cross-promotion yes, possibly annoying to have a new game on a service that usually sells old games, yes, but this won't happen all the time.
