I remember taking a look at this site a while back, Right when it first got started, and being unimpressed, a friend told me to take another look, and falling to the irrestible lure of free games, I signed up, and took a look at the catalogue.

Is there any chance you guys are planning to grab any of the old gold box SSI games?
The Dragonlance series and forgotten realms series are STILL considered to be some of the best dungeon crawls of all time.

How about the old wizardry stuff? (Crusaders of the dark savant in particular is a classic)

I realize the licensing for the TSR/SSI/WOTC/ADND stuff is BEYOND messy at this point, but if anybody can sort out that trainwreck, its gotta be you guys. I've heard the same thing about some of the titles you guys are selling now, so you must have some real brain trusts working the licensing angle.

If you dont have any plans to go after this stuff thats fine Ill definley pick up a few things on offer, but if you do it would make me one very attentive customer.

It all depends on what developers GOG can sign and what they are willing to allow GOG to sell, GOG cant just sell or provide whatever they like, even for the likes of Daggerfall and Arena, both free ware but as GOG has no contract with them they cannot legally offer them, though if you search the forums there are links to those two.

All we can really do is point you to an obsolete list and hope votes carry over later

I am well aware of the complexities of licensing, unfortunatley its a sizable part of my job, my least favorite part actually. Basically what I am asking is if they are in talks, or planning talks with the current rightsholders for any of the aforementioned products.

OR in the case of the SSI stuff if they have even managed to track down a viable party to negotiate with. Its my understanding that several parties would have to be involved on that one, and that some of them have been unwilling to come to the table in the past, or so I've heard. (Theres a reason theyve gone untapped for so long)

GOG knows (pun intended) as you will know with licensing sometimes bits get spread all over the place, music to 1 (or more) person source code to others, its a minefield. we just have to wait and see what GOG can bring to the proverbial table

I doubt GOG will answer as to whether or not they're negotiating for specific games. They've always been mum on that kind of thing before. But I can't imagine they've not considered these games. Gods know there are enough of us that want them on here.

This is the second time I've read that stated today. Why is the wanted page considered deprecated? New games are being added (a lot of them are silly, but still). New votes are being counted.

Its supposed to be replaced, whether current votes carry over... fook knows.

honestly, I played both system shocks when they came out, and feel like I would skip the first one entirely. System shock 2 delivered such a robust polished experience. While the first one is a bit rough around the edges.

SSI games are owned by Ubisoft (it's onboard), D&D rights belongs to Hasbro (same as Ubisoft), and licence to D&D games belongs to Atari until 2017 (Atari is on GOG too).

So, the only way is a legal agreement between all those parties and GOG.

Oh, and you can't forget there is (was?) a legal battle between Atari and Hasbro, although last time I heard about it is before Hasbro was signed up by GOG and D&D titles appeared here, so I don't know if it's still an issue.

It's not impossible, but the chances are less than EA coming to GOG ;)
