Heya,

just found this one and I thought I am going to share it with you.

Postal is coming back and the E3 Trailer can be watched here:

I think the graphics are looking a bit outdated, but I still hope it is as (or more) funny as #2 :)

you mean the "E3" trailer, right?

Last I checked EA was staying the fuck away from this particular title.

correct, meant the E3 Trailer :)
Is Postal 3 the new DNF? It feels like it's been in development for just as long.

Also are they still using the source engine? I still can't imagine Valve actually wanting to sell that via Steam, but then again, if they're selling shit flinging DNF...
The PC Gaming Magazine of my choice said:

- Source Engine
- And again, no release in germany at all :)

And what's wrong with a bit of scat.....man? Damn roody poos trying to mess up our funs. ;)
Looks even more pathetic than Duke Nukem Forever. That's some achievement.

Well, graphically, it certainly looks extremely unimpressive. Of course, graphics isn't everything, but this looks old. Still, if it's anything like #2, it should be great fun.
The appeal of these is quite lost on me. I don't know if it was a demo or a full version of 2 that I tried, (I have vague recollections of a LAN party), but it was the exact opposite of fun. All the design effort going into being crude, while leaving the actual gameplay at the whims of the emergent philosophy I so despise.

Dude, they're SUPPOSED to be crude...that's basically their main selling point.

That would be the problem. At no point did I imply otherwise.

I think the point is that the game is so unashamedly stupid and low-brow that it appeals to the cruder side in some of us. It only works because it's fairly unique in that respect. If 4 games like that came out each year, people would soon tire of it, but the Postal games occupy their own little niche. They are sort of the gaming equivalent of movies like Braindead and the Evil Dead series. They'll never win an Oscar, but are nevertheless extremely enjoyable every once in a while.

In the great tradition of the Postal games.
The problem with the postal games is that the Running with Scissors is so intent on being shocking and outrageous they forget about actually making the game fun to play.. It's sort of fun to play a homicidal maniac for about ten minutes then it becomes boring.
And I found Postal 2's attempts at satire to be both pathetic and unfunny.

The difference between the Postal Franchise and Duke Nukem is that Duke Nukem 3D had great gameplay along with the outrageous humor (although how good DNF is remains to be seen. I remain skeptical despite the ravings of the fanboys).
But the Postal games are clueless.

The difference being that Braindead and the Evil Dead films are actually entertaining and made with wit and skill. The Postal games are not. Being Stupid and LowBrow in an entertaining way requires talent, just being stupid and low brow without the entertainment factor is boring.
