What in the...was my first post too long to actually go through? Oh well, let's try again.
Flagship desktop:
-Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (G0, 3.2 GHz, 8x400)
-Sunbeamtech Core-Contact Freezer
-8 GB (4*2 GB) G.SKILL DDR2-800 (5-5-5-15)
-Galaxy GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB (highly modified non-reference card with different HSF and PCB)
-Auzentech X-Fi Prelude
-Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P 2.0
-Western Digital Caviar Blue WD5000AAKS (500 GB, 7,200 RPM)
-PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610
-A+/Aplus/ABS Tagan Black Pearl (it's kind of like the Lian-Li PC-V2000, only without the gigantic price tag)
-Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
-MAG Innovision 986FS (I'd be using my Dell P1110 instead if not for the focusing failure)
-Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 (this + CMSS-3D = astoundingly immersive surround sound effects in gaming)
-IBM Model M 1391401
-Logitech G500
-Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar (FCC-modded) + Thrustmaster RCS (Hall sensor-modded)
-Microsoft SideWinder Force-Feedback Wheel
-NaturalPoint TrackIR 4 Pro
Notebook (Gateway E-295C/C-14*XL convertible Tablet PC):
-Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 (2.5 GHz, 12.5x200, 6 MB L2)
-2 GB (2*1 GB) whatever cheap RAM came stock with the system
-ATI Mobility Radeon X2300/HD 2300 128 MB (the difference being the absence/presence of a UVD, and while Gateway specs say X2300, ATI drivers say HD 2300...not really sure here)
-some cheap IDT/SigmaTel integrated sound codec (not even Realtek?)
-160 GB 5,400 RPM HDD (not sure of the exact vendor/model, but it sure runs hot!)
-8-cell battery
-Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
-some cheap 14.1" TN panel with a Wacom Penabled/UD-series digitizer behind it and a glossy tempered glass sheet in front of it
Backup desktop/classic gaming PC:
-AMD Athlon XP 3200+ (2.2 GHz, 11x200)
-crappy stock HSF with a very loud fan
-1.5 GB (3*512 MB) Kingston Value DDR-333 (passable, but 2*1 GB DDR-400 would yield the best performance)
-eVGA GeForce 6800 Ultra (dual-slot stock HSF)
-NVIDIA nForce2 SoundStorm
-Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe
-Hitachi TravelStar 40 GB 4,200 RPM (only spare drive I had)
-Antec True430
-a cheap "6AR6" case, as I tend to call them
-Windows XP Home Edition SP3
PowerBook G3 2000/Pismo/FireWire:
-400 MHz G3 (100 MHz FSB)
-256 MB (2*128 MB) PC-100 SDRAM
-ATI Rage Mobility 128/M3 8 MB
-whatever Mac-specific integrated audio codec Apple decided to use
-6 GB Fujitsu 4,200 RPM HDD (too small, but more irritatingly, TOO NOISY!)
-a main battery so old it lasts a whopping NINE MINUTES before going into emergency standby
-Mac OS 9.2.2 (could go all the way up to OS X 10.4.11, but performance just plain sucks with only 256 MB of RAM and a small, slow hard drive, not to mention that all the Mac games I install on it are for OS 9 or earlier)
COM64 with an Ethernet card super glued in. Instead of the floppy or tape, i cram Nintendo cartridges into a pile of rocks and sticks i tied together with some twine i found in my garage. my monitor is my Nintendo DS ((which is sweet cause half of it is touch)). my head set consists of ipod ear-buds and the bottom half of a cordless phone i duct tape to my face. my keyboard and mouse are actually just a 360 controller that has the keypad on it. i power it with hopes and dreams. and i use condoms for a surge protector.

I wouldn't use that 4200 RPM laptop drive for anything. Those things are trash.
I want one of those "pile of rocks and sticks" computers.

Desktop PC:
Q9550 @ 2.83
ATI 4870X2
8GB RAM
1 internal 500 GB Seagate sata 2 drive
a couple of external drives reaching about 3 TBs of storage
24" LG PMVA panel monitor
Vista 64
I bought it in Fall of 2008. If I had the money I wouldn't buy a new one yet, I would wait for another generation of GPUs to arrive.
Good thing I am poor then lol.
Netbook
MSI WInd 100 CLONE
It's a poor excuse of a computer, performance wise, and pure excuse of a netbook, battery wise.
Windowx XP home 32bit
One of the worst purchases I have ever done, bought in September 2008. 400 euros (at the time) down the drain.
Laptop
14" or so 1440x1028 or something resolution,
Compaq Presario 2816ea circa 2002
Pentium 4 @1.4
256MB ram (was 512MB but second stick decided to go to the afterlife)
60GB Hitachi 7200 drive (not the original one)
64MB dedicated radeon mobility 7500m (king of laptops in performance in spring/summer of 2002 when it was released)
battery dead
Great laptop that was used as the main computer from early 2002 to about Xmas 2005. Best computer buy ever.
I don't use it any more, but it is there.
Windows XP home 32bit.

Anytime you can actually forage for system components, you win. :)

mushy101: It would be nice to find out if we lovers of old games really do have 'ancient' hardware, or just really old computers. Hopefully we haven't and the people who come here will realise we are not just people who play old games due to old hardware, but we play older games simply because, in most cases, they are better then new games.

DrIstvaan: Well now, I *do* have some quite aged hardwares... and I don't feel like upgrading them. It's just that I don't see myself playing almost any of the newer games requiring a better rig. (Seriously, the only 2009-2010 games I played are Anno 1404+Venice /which run quite nice on my machine/ and Plants vs Zombies.)
So, with me it's not "I play old games because my computer can only run those", but "I don't intend to play new game, so this older machine will do just fine".
Anyway, here're my system specs.

Pretty much the same thing for me. I have an older pc that has a hard time running anything made past 2004. Other than that, my pc suits my needs perfectly well, so I haven't upgraded yet. I don't play older games because I think they are better, I just play em cuz I don't mind the dated graphics most of the time. it wasn't too long ago I was playing nintendo GBA games, if I can handle GBA graphics I can handle most gog games
.Since I don't play many modern pc games, I can't say whether or not I agree with you on the old games being better. If that is true, I find that really really disappointing cuz honeslty I think the games are good but not "omfg these games are blowing my socks off" good.
Ok my turn

You should have said Xbox 360, it would have been faster :p

The drive does suck (doesn't work with FireWire Target Disk Mode in the PowerBook, for starters), but it's the only spare I had.
It was a spare specifically because I used to have an HP TC1100, and that was its drive 'til I upgraded it with a Samsung HM160HC. I don't have that system anymore, though-sold it to help me afford that Gateway notebook.
What'll likely happen is that it'll get a hand-me-down from the E-295C when I get around to upgrading its hard drive to something faster, more spacious, and not so damn hot, and...well, I don't know what I'm gonna do with that 40 GB 4,200 RPM drive. (Maybe it'll go down to my dual Celeron 533/768 MB (3*256 MB) setup, soon as I can get a case and PSU for it.)
