You can start in any of the mapped towns, the surrounding forested areas, etc. And you could have been in the area when your storyline started, or even just be arriving to the area via boat/horse/foot/etc via one of the entry points to the area listed before.
A little less as in don't mention names of specific places to start with until we've gotten some official locations(name of country/continent/region/etc) down pat.......but yeah yours seems fine.

Ok then.....you can start anywhere in the Vykkrel Mountains not including the part near the ruins marker as Rooshandark is starting near there. (The Vykkrel mountains go west-east north of the map itself with a slight bulge north of the ClagsCreft Fortress, so you can start anywhere within there...except of course near the ruins marker, the one north of the mysterious circle. Roo has claimed part of that.)

Sounds good. Will it be a specific spot(south of one of the cities or near the pass gates or something.) or will your starting spot just be the forest in general? Just curious, you don't have to answer this. :)

No one knows where the border is of yet.....of course you can assume the region ruled by the fortress is encompassed wholly or mostly by this map.

South of a city sounds fine to me.

I'd really like to start in or around the outskirts of the western most part of the Thrannish Forest, near Wardyn's Lookout. I don't think anyone's called that, and I'd like to start off there, right on the edge of the forest.

Lol no one can call most of the areas as most are big enough to share without bumping into one another. Roo claimed a bit of the Vykkrel mountains in the NW of the map near that mines icon for his base but the rest of that mtn. range and other areas are up for grabs for anyone.

Well, I'm grabbing near Wardyn's Lookout. ;)
