I agree - and I didn't pay $50, I paid $30 for Orange Box - this game will cost me $60 because they closed the IP loop hole pretty strongly (I used to just use a proxy to pay the UK price = a lot cheaper). We get less than half for 50% higher price, doesn't make any sense. And the DRM is just adding insult to injury.

lukaszthegreat: 50 bucks was orange box but we got TF2, portal and Ep2 which was also 8 hours.

Since i don't play multiplayer games at all anymore will be waiting for 10-15 bucks deal. Paid that much for Mirror's Edge which was similar length and was appropriate price.

I am not rich enough to throw away 50 bucks on a 8 hour game. Happy to hear that those eight hours are great tough.
2012 christmas will be fun.
I agree with you.
75% off and I might buy it. Other than that, meh.

Maybe it's fake, maybe not. But I still found it very funny ...

Whitecroc: It's not a first. Episode 2 did it as well, if I recall correctly. Episode 2 was also the first game to use non-first person-PC cutscenes (in the intro).
Well I know you could look around during the big Episode 2 ending... not sure where else they might have taken away control, but you probably know better than I. The cutscene was just a recap though, not really story-based.

I think it's the part where you get ambushed by the walking thing that attacks Alyx.
These frequent loading screens are really, really annoying and immersion breaking.

Eh, I think it's an improvement over the old Valve way; the game freezing and a "LOADING" box popping up.

Yes, I agree there, but since it all happens in an elevator I don't know why they couldn't use that to mask the loads, like Portal did. Even if that was impossible they could have done a Mass Effect 2 and made the load screens sort of immersive, like having an elevator look to them or being ads for Apeture or something.

Oh man, that would be awesome. Just show more of those background Aperture videos on the elevator ride down.

Right? I wonder if they could patch that in.
If the loading screens go on long enough an Aperture Science logo will be displayed. Its actual appearance changes over the course of the game.

I loved that, it didn't break the immersion nearly as much and the loadings weren't long anyway unless you really, really overestimated your rig in graphic options
Is this game a source engine powered game?

It's a Valve game, of course it uses Source!

BTW there are tons of complains on the steam forums about the low and unmodifiable FOV: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1847656
FOV is fine for me.
