Not too surprised, but cool that we have official confirmation.

fuNGoo: I think of it as Valve making excessively well honed, digestible, high quality experiences. It's like rich people food or something. Caviar, cheese, wine... some shit like that.

It's more like a bit overpriced Happy Meal, for which You wait long, and the taste doesn't last long. But it's nice every now and then, though..
Let's see how many episodes of Portal 2 we will get.

Fish eggs, fermented milk and fermented grape juice? Sounds as unpalatable as I always found HalfLife

Chihaya: I really don't understand the fascination over this game. It was just a bunch of gimmicky, simplistic and dull puzzles to me. Portal was a very bland and unmemorable experience to me. I don't understand everyone going crazy over that corny female HAL-9000 copycat either.

That's okay. We are all allowed to be wrong sometimes. :-)

if you don't get it, it's unlikely anyone can explain it to you. Different tastes I guess.
Personally I loved it and thought it was one of the best games I've ever played. Practically perfect in every way, as Ms Poppins would say.

Arteveld: I hope Portal 2 will be longer, but Valve likes to develop short games in an absurd dev time.

I hope it's not longer just for the sake of length. Portal was perfectly paced, and the perfect length for what it was. No filler at all.
If they pad it out just to make it longer, it's going to make the overall package worse, not better.

But Portal was basically a filler game. I always wanted it to be a bit more. Oh well.

Ah, but if Portal 2 is as short as Portal 1 will you pay full price for it? It's different when the cost of each game in Orange Box was £7 full priced...

Me? I'd pay full price for portal. Personally I didn't get the fuss over the orange box, as I already had the half life games, and I have never played TF2... so i essentially DID pay full price for it. And it was perfectly paced and one of the best games i'e ever played. So i was happy.
How is portal a filler game? It's exactly what it means to be, Frodo Baggins.
One of my pet hates is padded out games. I'd much rather have a good game that maintains it's pacing for 4-5 hours than a game that drags in the middle, or makes me replay long sections, or makes me repeat the same activity over and over, just to drag out the length. If that happens i'll probably just move on to another game, and then the devs wasted their time making a great ending, because everyone got bored at the filler.

Of course i won't, it's a game that's a nice addon to another, like Episode Three..;P
Orange Box was quite a ripoff in my opinion, i already had HL2 GOTY and EP1 when it came out, and was more interested in the cheaper Black Box. Now OB is cheaper, so i guess i'll finally buy it [as soon as i get myself a JOB], even though i hate rebuying stuff.
I hope they won't do anything like that with EP3.
You sir, have made a very valid argument, since Portal 2 will most likely be a separate release, will it be worth it's price?
And since i was never really hyped by the "cake is a lie", the song, the companion cube and stuff, i'll be very cautious with this one.
I find it amusing that we're talking about "paying it's price" and "pay full price" without even knowing what that price is going to be. In case you didn't notice, Portal wasn't priced full price when it became available on its own.
<insert TRIUMPH here>

Eh it was just out of interest really.
