ElPrimordial: Looks like a very interesting project, although I never know nothing about the original game... until now. The goal looks quite bit high but I hope players around the world would put their two cents... the concept its so promising and so different to what we usually accustomed to see that I think deserve our attention.
This, I totally agree with you. :)
Unknown developer with no history. Obscure game I never heard of. Nothing tangible to look at, not much in the way of details at all.

All it has going for it is an interesting premise.

Sorry but that just isn't enough for a half million.
I downloaded the e-book, we had this game when I was younger but I never played it. I would not mind seeing it released but 900k is a lot to ask for and Tex Murphy just ate my chase card.

You can try the original game at least pretty conveniently here (there's a plugin required):

They revamped the project with a much lower goal (530k) but unfortunately , that didn't help much.

Thanks for the heads up had not checked in a bit, I'll pitch in some but I don't think my drop is going to help, I really like the concept and what they are showing but it seems there are a lot of people out there who could care less about story telling and just want to shoot things. (don't get me wrong I love shooting things :-p)

If you've only just heard about this, where'd you get 900k from? The new one is asking for 530k...

EDIT: Oh never mind, MoP already said this.

*sigh*

I really want this to happen but it doesn't look likely. When even Kicktraq (the king of number exaggeration) says it's going to fail, it's going to fail. Unless it suddenly gets massive publicity or something.

We should bug RPS to write something nice about it, so it gets bit of exposure.

Sadly, there's no way this project will make it.$530,000 is still way too much. Even high-profile Kickstarters projects like Jane Jensen's Moebius, Republique and SpaceVenture have been struggling to reach $500,000. A project by a group of unknown people trying to remake a game from 1986 that hardly anyone remembers simply has no chance of raising that kind of money.
I'm guessing that, if this batch of games ends up well, next batch will have way less problems to get funded. But also there is a chance of simply having too many good projects at once, and only limited amount of money and then..well someone is f** up.
1986?

EC-: 1986?
:P

While an 8-bit demake of Valve's Portal could be fun, no this is a 2012 remake/reboot of the 1986 game Portal.
Kickstarter projects should try to aim low, and have stretch goals in case they turn out to be popular. When something like Grim Dawn can pull in only $500,000, you really should reconsider the funding goal for your niche project.
There's an update that is backers only, what's it say?

The ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything. Yeah, I'm just as surprised as you are.

I've actually replied to the wrong thread, but I'm curious, can't you just pledge to see the update and then cancel your pledge? I'm really not understanding the reasoning behind backer only updates at this time.
