hey, I was just wondering if anybody knew of any non-violent video games that were popular.
I believe of course, Tetris, The Incredible Machine, Puyopop, Puzzle League, etc..
OF course, I'm not limiting it to just popularity in America, or else I wouldn't have listed Puyopop, hahaha.
Anyway, If you know of some popular, or non-popular, but still non-violent, go ahead and list them and let's discuss them.
World of Goo immediatley springs to mind. Crayon Physics Deluxe as well. I'm about 1/3 through Portal and there has been no combat either.
Peggle! Zuma! Bejeweled! Viva Pinata!
Mostly I can only think of casual games that are non violent. Which is probably why I am going insane.

Chell is a unlikeable for a reason. ;)
Defrag is popular Quake3 trick jumping mod. No violence unless chucking your computer out the window counts. ;D

Well, orgies aren't technically VIOLENT.

Depends on your country, probably.
Games with absolutely no violence... I am almost at a loss, which perhaps is sad.
Games with all cartoon violence and nothing serious, I could list a ton of them, the most obvious of which being all the old Lucasarts adventure titles.

Oooohhh! PONIES!!!
The best selling PC game series - The Sims - is pretty much non-violent, unless Sims 3 changed things up quite a bit.

it can be quite violent, with your sims catching fire, or if you're one of those idiots who plays the game to murder the sims.

I'd argue that accidental violence - or violence that merely occurs from subverting the way the game is intended to be played - doesn't count.
Pretty much any racing game. Unless crashing into things is violence.

I'd hope so, but I'm playing by some rules put forth by some real noobs when it comes to video games. They would count crashing cars as violence, even if it is just a bump or the car, suffering no damage (like in Gran Turismo) slamming full speed on it's side into a wall.
