I'd like to know how the early Police Quest 1 and 2 relates to the early Leisure Suit Larry games, if the games look alike. I enjoyed the style of easly LSLs, I think I'd like any game like that.

Anyone care to tell me?
Similar, yes.

Best thing for you to do is check out the screenshots at mobygames

I think the version of Police Quest 1 GOG has is the VGA remake though.

Also, depends on the LSL title You're referring to, as LSL's we're also released in SCI [the VGA ones].
While the graphical style of the AGI [older] versions is simillar, LSL's were comedies, and PQ's we're early simulation adventure games, hence, humor was scarce, if any.
The VGA versions of LSL and PQ will be drastically different. LSL VGA had a quirky style, similar to that of LucasArts Day Of The Tentacle, while PQ went even further into realism, even using digitalized art [for corpses too].
I enjoyed the gameplay style of the early LSL games, VGA or not.

Why the hell aren't the Larry games here anyway?

I agree with Arteveld. The police quest series is not really like LSL in terms of gameplay. PQ is much more serious and very pedantic (you have to follow proper police procedure, there's even a bit where you have to press a traffic light to cross the road! sorry if that was a spoiler :P)

I'm assuming we'll get the LSL and SQ games in time.

I guess not until these new Atari games are done though.

The rights are all over. Nobody knows who owns what anymore.

The Space Quest titles are all ready available on GOG.

Codemasters is the current copyright holder for the Leisure Suit Larry franchise. Since both Activision and Codemasters are signed with GOG, I'm sure something will be worked out eventually.
