wpegg: Damn this thread! You have proved to me that I'm getting old. I simply cannot get so excited and impatient about a game any more. I used to, I remember the agonizing wait for Black and White 2 (and the subsequent crushing disappointment). I was looking forward to StarCraft 2, but if someone had told me that it was going to be delayed I wouldn't have been so bothered (mainly because they did, constantly for about 3 years).
Is it that I'm losing my desire for gaming, or the games just aren't as awe inspiring anymore?
Same here. I kinda miss that excitement. :( Is it that I'm losing my desire for gaming, or the games just aren't as awe inspiring anymore?
Right now, that past couple of days here on forums with countless TW/TW2 threads were just irritating. I guess I should just crawl away and return in a week or so, after everything more or less settles down, as I'm apparently unable to share the mood.

I don't miss the excitement or anticipation for upcoming games one bit. The lack of it lets me focus on what I do have, and I'm disappointed less often if a game turns out badly. I am excited when an item arrives in the mail, however I sometimes don't mind waiting a day until I get around to the thing. Getting more "mature" as you get older, is an odd thing, and in some parts of the world, it's known as being boring. :P

Red_Avatar: Ugh I'm torn - if a properly cracked version appears, it will be hard to resist. According to the mail I received, it will take a ridiculous TEN DAYS for my copy to arrive from BLOODY ENGLAND! It takes like 3 hours of driving ffs, why will it takes ten bloody days for it to travel maybe 100 miles?
Quantity Title Price Each Estimated Delivery Time
1 The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings (Collectors Edition) EUR 69.43 10-15 days*
I'm going to have to avoid every forum for 10 to 15 days because they're too cheap to pay for a proper mailing service?
It's probably not that bad. They probably do it to get people off their back when a shipment doesn't arrive right away. Take Amazon Marketplace. I just ordered from the .com (US) site and shipping delivery estimate (shipped this morning) says June 15th - July 18th. Yeah right. It shipped USPS first class. I'd be extremely surprised if I don't receive it by the end of next week.Quantity Title Price Each Estimated Delivery Time

I ordered a replacement GPU from a company based in France. They said 5+ working days for delivery.
I got it 2 days later, on a Saturday.
Pleasantly surprised, me. <3

tomba4: Yep, it's real this time. For GOG it's better though - no one will tell the game was torrented because it was released DRM-free.
I'd be shocked if the GOG version isn't the one that gets pirated primarily. Plus, the industry won't admit that DRM is marginally affected at best and typically more effective at preventing sales. I'm sure that they'll find some reason to blame it on the DRM free version.

Pirates are not playing. There is no proof except pirates SAYING they do.
GOG.com version is not compatible with polish collector's edition (which is default in Polish), so there's no way to combine them.
And what's the point of developing the crack when there's only hours from Witcher 2 DRM FREE launch?
@hedwards DRM free may be a game killer. Demigod was DRM free and the online servers were overhelmed by pirates on first day.... But Witcher 2 has online authentication for updates, so it should not happen.

Got to love these pirates are playing this game or that game forum threads.
Buggers will always crack and play cames weeks in advance of release date look at i think it was crysis pirates where playing it weeks before the actual release.
For us who bought the game we only have a few hours of waiting and the knowledge that we at least paid for the game and are helping the developers with our money.

That's a solid point, although not quite applicable to the current state of affairs. I'm guessing that it was the cost of running the servers for play that was more harmful than patches.

lol some of you aint very bright... heres why crysis was played early..
1. It was a beta that leaked
2.the beta that leaked had no security on it
3.No crack was required or any more content other than what was leaked to play
^^ that is the reason.. it wasnt the full retail game u cant say pirates accomplished playing the actual game because it wasnt the actual game it was some half finished beta...
Pirates DO NOT crack games MOST of the time before release date due to files missing from the actual game. And unless the pirate can create these missing files than no matter how awesome they are at bypassing security it still wouldnt work because the game is crippled. Pirates MOST of the time get to crack the game on release date! or after release date... Because its the ONLY TIME they can get the files missing from the game. Now keep in mind Release date varies from country to country..so if your in a country thats behind time that means the pirates in other countries get to try crack the game before u get the chance to play it yourself..
my point in this thread is.. im impatient..i want to play..and everyone i know with a retail disc version is playing this and laughing at me because im still waiting...

Well, GOG version will be almost a day late, so that argument is out of the table (I mean, DRM is supposed to stop 0-day pirated distribution and in that way it failed, again). In general you're probably right though, it will be pirated primarily, simply because it will be easier to use. I'm sure that they'll find some reason to blame it on the DRM free version.
@keeveek. Riiight. You know better, nobody will convince you that white is white and black is black.
