Curt Schilling was a guest on Conan O'Brien tonight. He brought in a 'clip' of Amalur: Reckoning, featuring "Gnomen O'Brien". If EA does anything else this quarter, it should be bringing this character in as a major side quest or something.

+1 to that, I didn't see the show, but that does sound great.
Isn't it amazing that such a lacklustre game like Amalur:reckoning is getting such publicity just because of its large EA investment.

Granted, I've only played the demo, and while it wasn't bad, it was just a re-hash of every action RPG mixed with bioware tired storytelling and MMO levelling/crafting.

Definitely doesn't deserve this publicity.

Yeah, I'm sure Conan O'brien had a World Series pitcher on his show because of EA, and not because a pro athlete turned huge fantasy geek/game developer is a decent story.

Wow. No need for the brutal sarcasm.

I didn't know any of baseball player stuff. It makes more sense now why a video game (which don't usually get air time) may have found its way onto Conan.

My other points on Amalur remain valid.

Curt Schilling and Conan share the same hometown, and Schilling is a hometown hero. I'm sure EA could do a lot better than a basic cable late night talk show if they really wanted to plug something. I mean, they (attempted to) got Cliffy B to plug Bulletstorm on a much higher rated show.

And I think 'brutal sarcasm' is exactly what's called for when dealing with ill-informed trash-talkers. That'll teach you.

Wow, all I can say is wow.

I was ill informed and I took back my statement.

No need to carry on like this.
You're the self-proclaimed masochist.

That would be a huge, missed opportunity if they didn't. I don't think even EA is that dense (they put that Chobot chick in ME3 and that had much less cool factor than this).

Licensing could be an issue, but I think this most likely falls under parody, and anyways I doubt very much that Conan would say no if they offered a small slice of the pie or they made it clear that he wasn't endorsing the game if he isn't.

I think "CONACO" is Conan's own company, and the owner of his likeness. Turner Broadcasting has more of a stake in his show, but not necessarily in what he does outside of it.

Conan is a needy little bastard, and has said often (though probably in jest) that he'll take any cameo role he can get. He'd probably cream his pants at the chance to work with Curt Schilling, and while somehow "obligated" to take a fee of some kind for his work, would probably do it gratis.

The difficulty in licensing would probably come in making the quest if it involved battling a Leno parody or something.

It takes a great baseball player...or a legendary musician.

I remember watching David Bowie performing on Conan before the release of Omikron. During the interview segment, they even played the game's trailer (complete with topless future-stripper).

Wherever the rights lay (Quantic Dream or Squeenixidos) it's just a matter of time...

Honestly, they don't really need his permission to do it, as this isn't his likeness. In practice though, I think they wouldn't have any trouble getting a license and might go further with getting him to do the voice over. But, then again, regardless of celebrity that's almost always very expensive, so perhaps not.
