wpegg: Is it just me, or has Kickstarter gone a bit crazy recently. It started out as a place for real projects, but now seems to be the stuff of pipe dreams.
I think we're seeing more of those because they're getting more publicity. LSL managed to get $655k from KS and some more from a paypal link. And they're able to expand what they planned to do originally.

Spate is only asking for $12k and from the looks of it that's mostly going to be spent in making it as good as possible. Unfortunately, no Linux version on the horizong, but that would probably cost more than what they're asking for.

Dark Meridian looks really cool, but people aren't feeling it or they're just tapped out.

Serpent's Tongue has gone crazy successful beyond what the devs were hoping for and they're madly rushing to create new stretch goals to cover a possible $100k pledge total. And they were asking for $18k originally IIRC.

So, I'd say that the ones like DFA, ST, Wasteland 2, Shadowrun and possibly LSL are what are driving a lot of it. It's going to be interesting to see how those projects work out in the long run. Donor fatigue is such that I wouldn't be launching any campaigns in the next couple months to let people get more money before I'd consider making one.
900k Goal????. Never heard of the original game (and i had C64 & Amiga and recognize plenty of classic games from that era)..
I can't see this happening. The original game is too niche product and while the concept for the new game sounds interesting the proposed budget and the lack of actual experience makes this a hard project to trust.
10 days into the kicker starter and they only got around 15k, yet their goal is 900k, yeah not happening, they most likely won't even reach 90k much less 900k. They set their goal to high and frankly I never heard of the game myself, I doubt alot of other people have either. Sorry passing on this although I did back Zombicide and that got almost 800k and that was considered successful because their goal was only 20k.

Zombicide really surprised me. Are they now the #1 most funded boardgame on Kickstarter? Because I know Zpocalypse, at $200K+, was the 2nd most funded at that time before it ended (and subsequently overtaken by Zombicide).

lowyhong: Guys, please don't impersonate yourselves as fans when you're really the developer.

Anyway I was on the fence regarding this, but it looks like they're not going to meet their goal, so I'll just back the $100 tier to help them gain some momentum.

Me too. But consider that if they don´t reach their goal you won´t loose a single cent, I think is cool to show interest even if they don´t reach their goa (they won´t)l.

They want to raise $900000 in just 20 days? Lol, not a fucking chance guys.

Like "indie" games themselves, kickstarter will be drowned in crap while a few gems shine through.

The trolling part? Oh that was just to mimic a bunch of retards on another forum that would spend most of their time discussing whether the TS is the developer or not, hence the "/trollface"

I'm on Kickstarter since 2009. It has always been this way, only the numbers increased.
So who are the team behind this and what have they been doing since the 1980s? What clout do they have in the industry now?

The game seems interesting. But let's face it, this is something that has no hope of happening. If they want to learn how this is done then they need to take a look at the Shadowrun kickstarter. Even if I hadn't heard of Shadowrun I'd probably still have backed it after a pitch like that. They made it seem like a real thing by showing us the people who are going to make it a real thing and where they're going to be making it happen. .

Funny you mentioned that, I was in precisely that position. I backed it without any knowledge of the previous games. I'll probably pick up a copy of the SNES and Genesis games just to see what they were while I wait for the new version to be created.

I was amazed at how well Zombicide did. I was tempted, but I couldn't justify throwing down $125 for the Apocalypse level pledge and shipping for it. It is the #1 biggest board game Kickstarter, but Ogre still has a couple of weeks to ago and isn't too far back...and just dded a pledge level to add a new Car Wars project.

Actually, there are only three days left in the Ogre campaign.
