....because it is in better shape than some of you can think of....
PC gaming? It’s in better shape than you think (translated from the original Italian version)
I don't think anyone is worried about PC gaming dying all together, we are just worried that bug budget single-player games are dying on the PC platform.
Popcap, Facebook and MMO style games are raking in the money, but what about Assassin's Creed or Grand Theft Auto 4? Not so much.
And those are more the games I want to play.

I think there is space for everyone on the PC platform. And the so called "casual gaming" shit isn't where the big money is (and will probably never be). So no reason to worry here, imho....
About the MMO games, I agree: single player is the most important asset if the industry wants to survive to itself in the upcoming years.... Who will still play the damn World of Warcraft ten years from now, while here we're all playing Good Old Games again after decades? The MMO business is plain dumb, and short-sighted.

When they stop shoving a probe up my ass every time I want to play their games, I'll consider buying some of them.
And that is why your blog post is pretty meaningless and is just another case of a gamer preaching what they want to have happen.
The MMO business "dumb"? HA! Next you are going to tell me that consoles were also a bad idea.
Actually sites like GoG and platforms like (here comes the gasps and the shocked expressions) Steam are encouraging actually buying games over pirating them by offering extras and specials you couldn't easily get otherwise. With GoG its a combination of manual scans, wallpapers, soundtracks, and a host of other goodies. Steam has achievements and crossover items for other games. I know I've bought some games I used to own over again just for extra content...well and to support what I feel is a good game.
Why is Microsoft coming back to the PC? It's not because pirates are gone it's because they are now missing the 9.99 Tesco crowd. This is what I was trying to say to that idiot on the Ubi forums. No PC games don't make vast sums of money straight away. They do however make a lot of money over time thanks to budget supermarket sales, Steam Sale and others. Hell PC prices were only raised to keep them inline with Console prices. PC games really shouldn't be more than $29.99.

SItes make up stuff all the time, especially retailers, so that's likely nothing.

At the moment I wouldn't bet against it.

With the other rumors though, who knows.
Whatever happens...I doubt a PC version will ever be what it was supposed to be.
PC gaming will stay, but how many good years do we have left? If market keeps going way it has been then we will have a PC gaming market where the mainstream is really a sewer, Indie's will be only good games left and they have such low budget even some good ones can be a pain to play.
