The Shadow Warrior preorder page.

I don't know if I'm in the minority, but please don't do that. Preorder exclusive items encourage irresponsible consumerism (preordering without knowing if the game is good), and both result in either:

1) parts of the game being forever locked off to those who don't preorder from three distributors.
or
2) Exploitative day-one DLC which costs far more than it's worth for anyone who didn't preorder.

I have to agree.

I hate the idea that I need to pre-order SW to get a more complete game. Hopefully this will be removed

Even if it's done tastefully enough for those of use who use GOG, that still means anyone who gets if from somewhere other than GOG wouldn't get the weapon.

Distributor exclusives shouldn't be encouraged either.
I wonder if there will be the special edition here on GOG,cause on steam, theres a special edition with hotline miami katana,SS3 sledgehammer, artbook and soundtrack
Yup, I too wish GOG didn't do that. But I kind of wish nobody would, and I'm afraid that far too many people bite for exclusive content so when there's somebody not offering it... Well, he's boned. So I think the topic of the title should not be "GOG, don't do exclusive content", but "People, for the love of god, please stop buying exclusive content. Or just digital preorders in general."

I do agree with you about preorder exclusive stuff but distributor exclusive... I'm not so strict about it. I think there are some GOG-exclusive items in unEpic. A T-shirt and a game controller (which you can use as a weapon). AFAIR I used the T-shirt for some time but it was neither necessary nor very useful and I think the main purpose of it is to bring a smile to your face. I wouldn't call my version incomplete if it lacked those two items. I would have an issue, however, if some distributor exclusive content was powerful/important. But I think in most cases additional content is not so important so for me it's not a big deal. I understand and respect that others may have different opinion.

It's available in the most easily reachable shop, so it potentially makes the early game easier. No game-breaker, of course.

My feeling is that items like that are basically irritating when your version doesn't have them: the ridiculous situation of having the 99.9999% complete edition. By contrast, some of the early ideas for the Torment Kickstarter were backer-exclusive areas and even a backer-exclusive companion; thank goodness those suggestions got nipped in the bud.
It's usually useless nonsense I would rather not be in my game anyway. Most of it is overpowered.

One exception was the Tong mission in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and that annoyed me greatly. After playing it though, honestly the game works best without it. I try to always remember the basic game is the one the devs really designed and completed, everything else is superfluous.

Well, Mass Effect 3's From Ashes is an exception, that was obviously removed from the main game, but I got it free and it wasn't pre-order bonus, so... yeah.
Im with StingingVelvet. I was really alarmed when the trend started. The preorder bonuses really did end up just being pointless tacked on content. Its either purely cosmetic, unbalancing, or just plain bad.
Well, whatever your reasons, it seems that Preorder or day one DLC doesn't really make consumers happy. :-)

I wonder if someone feels special about having said Katana for the new Shadow Warrior, or the Gold Dragon skin and the bonus Map for Dragon Commander Imperial Edition.
Can you show it to your friends?
Can your kids show it to their friends?
My father is better that then yours, he bought Shadow Warrior GOG Edition not the mainstream Steam version.
I bought Dungeons, Tropico and Port Royale from Steam, and all three are Steam Special Editions and I don't even know what that does except from using that crappy Steam plattform.

All in all I hope most of us agree that "DRM Free" is the best GOG exclusive bonus there is. Anything else is not really needed, maybe not even needed.

Reverse for me. I didn't trust Shodan because I thought it might be G-Doc.

I agree...i only preordered here once and it was for a load of crap game that only exploited the name of a good game.
Can't say it was a great experience, sure as hell doesn't make me want to do it again.
I was taken aback a bit when I noticed the line. This practice is very similar to these DRM and DLC strategies. Exclusivity has usually the opposite effect on me. I know I will never have a complete edition, thus I have more reasons to wait for better price.
