...so, i was wondering if i ever dicide on getting a PSP, if i can effectively use UMDs of another country. Does anyone knows about this? And i mean some sort of actual experience with it? Of course, i am talking about UMDs because i am considering getting a [cheap] new PSP 2000, as the 'advantages' of the 3000 are pretty much useless to me, and i don't have money/all that interest in the PSP Go...
In case you're wondering, i'm specifically interested in knowing if a PSP bought in Portugal or another EU country can run UMDs of another country of EU - specifically UMDs from UK. Now, i have a slim PS2 and it has no problem running both Portuguese or UK games, and i'd assume, games coming from anywhere else, since i believe its region-free (games on PS2). I'd like to know if UMDs present such advantages or if they are indeed "locked" to the origin country...
Information seems to suggest that the games are not region locked, but films are. The articles I've seen are more concerned with US/Japan though, not sure how it will work for those of us in the EU.

Never hurts to try. Worst case scenario, Pandora Battery and Custom Firmware.
Like the dude above said, games are NOT unlocked, movies are. (Well, some movies anyway.) They have little region labels on the UMD sometimes, but they don't mean anything.
Well, I play UK bought UMD based games on my Japanese PSP 3000 with no problems.

He actually said the exact opposite. Are you sure "unlocked" was the word you were looking for?

Oops, I wrote the wrong thing. Don't blame me, I went to the dentist and I'm in pain!

You're so wrong about Wikipedia. EVERYONE knows that the true infallible repository of all human knowledge is the local bar.
Holy crap, there is a region for North Korea? People HAVE UMDs there?

Isn't Kim Jong-il an avid movie collector? I'm not surprised if the region designation is reserved for himself alone. :P
UMD games are region-free. Import away! Buy cheaper games from developed countries over eBay! Profit! :D
UMD movies and music are region-locked - but who would actually buy those anyway?
:D thanks all for the info on this :]
