What are the PS3 exclusives that distinguish it from the X-Box 360? I'd like to get a console this summer hopefully but I cannot afford both. On the Xbox side the Halo games and the Gears of War games look cool. I don't think there is anything else exclusive to the Xbox that's a big deal to me personally. I'm not familiar with what the relevant greats are on the PS3 though so figured I'd ask here about that. Thanks!

Ps 3 has a lot of nice exlusives, but it depends on you kind of games.
Well you called halo and gears of war so first i tell you the shooters.
Uncharted can be fun it has this indiana jones feeling.I love all 3 of them. Killzone has nice graphics and can be fun. Resistance is also a good franchise never played 3 tough but i heard it was good.
Race games. Well you cant go wrong with grand turismo 5 tons of cars and events.
If you like violence and gore. Try god of war 3 its a fun game.
If you like sillyness and fun adventure shooters try the rachet and clanks games.
And ps 3 has one of the ebst hardcore action adventure game demon souls I had really got a blastwith it and I think its more easier then dark souls.
There are lots more but i dont know wich type of games you like.

Yeah, exclusives aside it is actually Skyrim and Red Dead Redemption that are the first console games I'd buy. I'd like to pick up all the Bethesda RPGs and play them over time.

I'll go on Gamespot to read about the games suggested here so I can learn more about them. I tend to like RPGs the best but i like action games and shooters a lot as well. I do like Racing games too and would be happy if I found MX vs ATV in some form on PS3. I also like NFS games and Burnout, Flatout, etc. Something I love on the PS2 is SSX 3. I read about the Ratchet and Clank as well as Jak and Dexter series games (PS2 versions) and those sound like a lot of fun too. I probably should have mentioned preferences/interests like these to begin with.

Things I like about the PS3 over the Xbox for what it's worth:

1.) Includes Blueray player.
2.) No charge for online features

And the looks of your avatar you like dungeon crawlers as well? Psn has a remake of wizardry wich I am addicted to atm, You havent said what you like about shooters because of the singleplayer or the multiplayer part?

I don't see Heavy Rain mentioned. I think it stands out and it's a must experience for PS3 owners.

True but thats because ps 3 has a lot of exlcusives.

I have no intention of ever purchasing a PS3 but Valkyria Chronicles, Demon Souls, and MGS 4 look very appealing.

Be aware that, for many users, there are some serious lag issues with this game on PS3. Don't know to what extent it's been patched, but it's a problem with the engine itself that was already known from previous Bethesda games such as Fallout 3 (I played this for a while on PS3 myself, can't say it was a smooth ride), but the issue is apparently worse in Skyrim.

Bethesda's trade mark as long i can remember they only brouught buggy games.

There's not that many X360 exclusives because it's too similar to PC so games from Xbox can be quite easily ported and developers can earn more money.
